JUJUTSU KAISEN © 2018 by Gege Akutami/SHUEISHA Inc.

Ever since Gojo died in the final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans have been waiting for any sort of information about whether Gojo would somehow come back. And that’s why there were SO MANY copium theories logically and systematically explaining how Gege Akutami “foreshadowed” or “hinted” Gojo’s return in previous chapters.

But one fine day, Akutami ended their hopes by saying, “Nope. He DEAD dead. Stop the copium” by explaining how a certain Gojo cover art of a volume was actually his funeral image.

And to add fuel to the fire (because Akutami loves to traumatize his fans), Gege decided to sit down and answer over 30 most-frequently asked questions about the character he hates the most.

The Jump GIGA Summer 2024, launched on August 8, 2024, included an authorized booklet featuring Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo Satoru. And it is within this booklet that Akutami answers the following 30+ questions:

About Gojo’s birth and High-school days

1. Where was Gojo Satoru from? Where was he born?
A: Gojo’s from Kyoto. His clan’s main house is also in Kyoto.

2. Can Gojo speak any other language besides Japanese?
A: He can probably speak a little bit of English.

3. Are Gojo’s parents still alive?
A: They’re alive. They’ve gained a higher status within the Gojo clan by giving birth to Gojo Satoru, but they’re not particularly strong as Jujutsu sorcerers, so they were separated with Gojo at a young stage. (Because they can’t be involved in his education as a Jujutsu sorcerer.)

4. Does Gojo have siblings?
A: He’s an only child. Since he’s one of the three big clans, he has many relatives, but because he was treated specially, he most likely did not have normal interactions with his relatives.

5. Even though Gojo usually speaks in standard Japanese, does he sometimes use the local dialect in his hometown?
A: Unlikely. As a kid, he was included in missions as part of an “elite Jujutsu sorcerer training” program conducted by the three major clans. Alternatively, he relocated to Tokyo during his childhood.

6. Did Gojo’s parents completely shut him off from worldly culture and trends?
A: Not really, Though his training as a jujutsu sorcerer and his education as a member of one of the big three clans were rigidly implemented, he often skipped and escaped, so he had a fair amount of fun.

7. Did Gojo have any experience battling and driving out curses before joining Jujutsu Tech?
A: He did have a lot of experience. Yes.

8. Why did Gojo join Jujutsu Tech?
A: Because he was fed up with his family always meddling in his life.

9. Did he have any preference for uniform design?
A: Gojo has a pretty plain uniform and hasn’t customized it much. Geto’s uniform, on the other hand, makes you wonder how he got the idea to make it like that.

10. Gojo used to have a portrait of his idol as his wall covering in high school. Was it his grave idol all along?
A: He finally stopped using it because he wasn’t too picky about it and Ieiri thought it was creepy.

11. Did Gojo spend his high school years living in the dorms?
A: Yes, he did

12. Gojo was known for his round glasses in high school, but did he wear them when he started Jujutsu High?
A: It was normal for him to wear sunglasses before high school because they prevented him from seeing too much with his six eyes, but let’s avoid picturing middle school Gojo wearing sunglasses.

13. How did Gojo’s seniors perceive him? Did they communicate with him at all?
A: Not likely very much. Due to his membership in the three major clans and his strength as an underclassman, it was likely challenging to approach him.

14. Did Gojo have a Jujutsu mentor?
A: Since the Gojo family taught him the fundamentals of Jujutsu, he most likely had a tutor there. Based on the surviving documents of his technique, he had to put in a lot of effort on his own.

Gojo’s life as a professional Jujutsu Sorcerer

15. What was Gojo’s salary as a sorcerer?
A: He receives a monthly salary, so he doesn’t receive his salary as a one-time payment. Mei Mei is an exception. As a Special Grade sorcerer, he probably earns a salary comparable to that of a minister.

16. How did Gojo benefit financially from his family?
A: As the head of the Gojo family, he has considerable assets from that as well. In any case, Gojo is rich.

17. Did Gojo ever consider giving up his career as a Jujutsu practitioner?
A: Probably not.

18. What would Gojo have become if he weren’t a Jujutsu sorcerer?
A: A freeloading gigolo or sugar baby?

Understanding Gojo’s personality, strengths and weaknesses, and habits

19. What are Gojo’s weaknesses, if he does have any?
A: 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘

20. What is Gojo’s key strength?
A: 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘

21. Did Gojo prefer the beach or the mountains?
A: Most likely, the beach

22. Cat person or dog person?
A: Although he seems like he would enjoy cats, I believe he prefers dogs.

23. Rice or bread?
A: It appears that he would prefer bread more.

24. Did Gojo have any complexes or regrets?
A: Probably not. If I had to say, it would probably be him being unable to stop his best friend, Suguru Geto.

25. Is Gojo the type to feel sadness or rage when someone dies?
A: He was angry when Yuji Itadori died, so yes. but I think those who stand at the top become resigned to the deaths of their comrades. They reach a point where the possibility of others dying at any moment isn’t strange.

26. Did Gojo have any feelings of joy whatsoever?
A: I can’t really imagine it, but he’s probably happy when he meets someone with talent as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

27. What occurs if Gojo inadvertently consumes alcohol that he is not comfortable with?
A: He passes out right away, but the true problem is that his Cursed Technique’s output is malfunctioning.

28. Did Gojo have a license to drive a car or ride a bike? Does he occasionally drive alone?
A: Unlikely. Even if he did, he could probably get by on just one exam and work as a paper driver.

29. You once said Gojo can do practically anything, but does he actually cook regularly?
A: It’s not that he can’t, he just doesn’t do it very often.

30. Talk about Gojo’s taste in clothing and fashion-sense
A: He gives the impression of walking into an expensive store, buying things without looking at the price tag and after seeing its expensive price, he thinks “Well, it’s fine” and repeats it again.

31. Is Gojo a left-hand or right-handed person?
A: Every Jujutsu Sorcerer is basically right-handed (because I can see myself getting things wrong if I draw them that way) but athletes use their non-dominant skills with various tasks so I don’t really worry about that when I’m drawing.

Decoding Gojo’s goal

32. Gojo appears to be more trustworthy now that Suguru Geto has betrayed him. What do you think has changed about him?
A: GETO GAVE HIM A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR GUIDING THE NEXT GENERATION.

From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna.

Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
