Anime Voice Actor Upset with Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Translator
Jujutsu Kaisen seems to read differently in English
Jujutsu Kaisen’s unique storytelling in the shonen demographic has attracted a lot of attention due to its complex power system and future plot events.
Because of the manga’s complexity, some words can get lost in translation, and this has caused the English version of the manga to read differently from the Japanese original.
Adam McArthur, the voice actor for Yuji Itadori in the English dub, has called out John Werry, the official English translator for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, for his questionable rendering of some lines in the latest chapters of the series.

John Werry’s translations of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga have often been cited for being responsible for the misinformation surrounding the series and its plot.
This usually comes in the form of or incorrectly explaining the different techniques used throughout the series.
Examples include Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine, his Domain Expansion, being responsible for the adaptation process and not Mahoraga or that Satoru Gojo can also use Suguru Geto’s Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique.

In particular, some fans are upset with the misgendering of the ancient sorcerer Uraume as “she/her” instead of “they/them” as there was no confirmed gender for the character.
Uraume was long identified as the androgynous monk as early as their first appearance in Chapter 53.
Friendly reminder that John Werry is fucking terrible at his job. That terroristo continues to gender Uraume as "she" despite the story never giving us an indication to their gender and introducing them as "an androgynous monk" meaning their ambiguous gender is clearly important pic.twitter.com/is8V1tD9jL

The same mistake was made when referring to “The Angel”, an ancient sorcerer who possesses a girl named Hana Kurusu yet the sorcerer’s own gender has yet to be revealed.
Angels Gender isn't confirmed as of now:

Due to Werry’s infamous translations, majority of readers have chosen to read the fan-translated scans of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, particularly from scanlation group TCB.
John Werry was not the original translator as he replaced Stefan Koza after the latter was sentenced to 10 years of jail time for serious offenses in December 2020.
Werry began his work with Chapter 133, near the end of the Shibuya Incident Arc.
The Bane of JuJutsu Kaisen's English Version:
VIZ & John Werry!Everyone long enough in the JJK-Community already knows him and i am dissappointed that he is still allowed to translate the series.

However, even under Koza, there were already things lost in translation that made the complex power system and storytelling of Jujutsu Kaisen hard to follow.
In one example, the Viz translation does not bring up the limited range of Aoi Todo’s Boogie Woogie cursed technique but when re-translated, the range is mentioned because it is important to how the technique works.
Even then, many of these translations are less problematic and have only made slight changes to the flow of sentences, whereas Werry’s translations have been noted to stray farther from the intended meaning in the original Japanese.
