Ely’s Guilt as the Thief Choujin. Choujin X Chapter 56.1 Spoilers
Choujin X furthers Ely’s character development.
In the previous Choujin X chapter, we see the fight against Bador Vlad evolve as the Blood Choujin regenerates into a stronger form.
Chapter 56 is titled,” Zora subjugation ~ Stone wall” and this is part 1.
The chapter takes place as the fight against Bador Vlad is still ongoing and Tokio and Monoma are ascending the Tower of Mourning while Simon and Ely’s team face off against Zora’s Kagomura clan members and Jing, both forces firing a rain of flying swords and bullets respectively.
However, the Keepers’ position remains safe thanks to Michael’s telekinetic barrier.
As a group prepares to advance, Jing unleashes a flamethrower attack against them, much to Ely’s anger.
Ely looks for a good position to fight against the onslaught of gatling guns and swords, so she flies to Simon to distract Jing and the Kagomuras.
However, Simon warns Ely that he might not use his strongest abilities for a while after that.
Ely and Simon convince Michael to lower the telekinetic barrier keeping them protected from the hail of bullets and swords.
Although Michael complains about the plan, he agrees to lower the barrier.
Simon summons his “Loaned Sword: Pierced Viscera – Event Magnification”, which summons a sword larger than his own body.
Simon reveals that this sword is from the “head house” of the Kagomura Clan.
With the command “Heaven Set”, Simon moves the massive sword on the platform that the Tower of Mourning cultists were standing on.
Simon commands Michael to lift the barrier and the Keepers open fire.
Ely goes after Tawashi, preparing to fire at the insect Choujin but she actually grabs Tawashi’s insectoid arms to spin her around and throws her to a wall.
Ely recalls how she has stolen many powers, from Caribol 16 to Chandra Hume, who was her first victim, being fine with it at first but then over time, she felt the burden, especially when she recalls how taking away Chandra’s power was essentially stealing the life the man had lived.
Ely recalls the time she practiced using Caribol’s Golem Master ability to animate a small rock.
As she prepares to steal Jing’s abilities, she resolves that she has to lose her feelings of guilt as a thief and to accept the need to defeat the enemy and thereby to accept her Choujin power.
