In the previous Blue Lock chapter, Igaguri manages to mess up Rin’s genius streak with his foul move.

Chapter 278 is titled, “Football Junkies.”

The chapter has 18 pages.

The narrator comments: “Igaguri’s secret technique shakes the field! The world goes into a storm of cheers at his malicia!”

The announcer takes not of Igaguri’s move, which was to draw a foul from Rin

Igaguri’s teammates, Raichi and Gagamaru, praise the “godly monk’s” efforts.

Meanwhile Igaguri himself screams at how Noa’s plan paid off and recalls how Noa told him that now that Rin is rushing with no hesitation, a rough tackle will throw Rin off.

Noa encourages Igaguri to stay strong and not get flustered but face Rin’s team with ruthless rationality, which Raichi and Igaguri agree to do.

Isagi sees the tide of the battle change.

Loki teases Rin, saying it is not over but Rin tells him to shut up as he intends to curse Igaguri to death.

The game restarts and Igaguri passes the ball to Noa. which Noa intends to link up to Kaiser but Shidou and Charles surround him.

Noa signals Kaiser to go.

Kaiser runs as Noa passes the ball to him

Isagi monologues about how Noa was brilliant in keeping Shidou and Charles occupied and intends to join in on the action, running too ahead of Kaiser but Zentetsu blocks Isagi’s path while Karasu marks Noa.

Noa passes the ball to Kaiser, meaning that Isagi was merely another decoy.

Noa’s plan was to stimulate Kaiser into becoming a rival that threatens him, that would help him grow as a “me that has been never before seen.”

This is just like how Isagi sees Rin using him as a stepping stone to Rin’s growth, except Noa is doing this on purpose for this match, building a rival within his own team in Bastard Munchen.

Kaiser passes to Noa as Chapa tries to steal the ball

Hearing Noa declare that he will become even stronger, Kaiser and Isagi monologue internal about witnessing Noa’s ego.

The PX midfielder Tokimitsu intends to stop Noa and so he grabs him, bringing Noa down.

This was a foul and so Tokimitsu gets a yellow card but Nanase notes that it could not be helped that a foul was made, otherwise Paris X Gen would be defeated.

Isagi realizes that he is not the protagonist (again) but another stepping stone for a different hero, not just how Rin sees Isagi as fuel for his own strength but now for Noa to make Kaiser stronger.

Noa tells Kaiser to finish the game with a 29-meter free kick, the Kaiser impact.

Isagi locks eyes with Kaiser, refusing to be a stepping stone again.

The narrator comments: “Isagi is furious! He won’t let anyone get on his way on the path of becoming the world’s best!”
