Hunter x Hunter: Who is Beyond Netero’s Prince?

Who among these candidates is likely to be Beyond Netero’s Prince?

HUNTER X HUNTER © 1998 by Yoshihiro Togashi/SHUEISHA Inc.

Beyond Netero’s plot now touches on the actual Succession Contest as in Chapter 401: “Moonlight”, Longhi, one of Tubeppa’s soldiers and Beyond’s first confirmed offspring, confirms that Beyond Netero has a child among the Princes.

Eliminating Suspects

To get the obvious out of the way, all three Princes that have passed away so far (Momoze, Sale-sale, and Kacho) are eliminated.

We will eliminate all the younger princes from 12 to 14 as potential candidates, which means Woble, Marayam and Momoze are also excluded.

This is because Beyond Netero might need an active partner in his ploy to reach the Dark Continent, someone who could reap the benefits of the Succession Contest for the sake of Beyond’s goal.

A baby would be an easy target for the unwitting Nen assassins he planted among the Kakin military or for the other Princes for that matter.

Fugetsu might be eliminated because of Kacho’s death and because they are twins, however, their age range is not too far off.

Tserriednich

Of the candidates for the role of Beyond’s Prince, Tserriednich is the most obvious, almost too obvious, due to his story prominence and resemblance in terms of Nen potential and malice.

Beyond Netero and his father Isaac Netero are Nen geniuses in differing ways, with Isaac Netero spending 5 years of training to perfect his prayer and thus his Nen power.

It could also be argued that Tserriednich has a similar journey to Netero due to how it is likely that Netero discovered Nen when he was around 50 years old, just as Tserriednich, a man in his mid-20s to early 30s, uncovered Nen only when he did basic training with his bodyguard Theta.

However, Tserriednich might be above Isaac Netero or even the Chimera Ant King Meruem in terms of potential because he awakened his Nen ability and Guardian Beast within a single day, rather than a process of five years and without needing some special genetics.

There is also the fact that he is the son of Nasubi’s first wife, who happens to be the mother of 1st Prince Benjamin as well.

Even beyond Benjamin or Camilla’s ruthlessness, Tserriednich had the most desire to kill all his siblings, especially his full brother, an enthusiasm that some of the full siblings do not share, such as the twins Kacho and Fugetsu, who only want to escape the Contest, or Halkenburg, who wants to save everyone .

Halkenburg

Hunter x Hunter Halkenburg

Another character with immense Nen potential, Halkenburg was also a novice to Nen until in Chapter 386: “Hypothesis”, where Halkenburg’s resolve to win the Succession Contest seemingly awakened his Hatsu, Possession Arrow, which allows him to transfer the consciousness of one of his soldiers marked by his Guardian Spirit Beast into another person.

However, given its link to the Guardian Spirit Beast, it was concluded to be a product of that beast.

Halkenburg also works as a foil to Tserriednich’s bloodlust, being Nen geniuses with differing goals and convictions.

In Chapter 402: “Letter”, Kacho’s letter reveals that Halkenburg’s origins are a secret, which would make him the most obvious of the siblings to be Beyond’s son.

However, Togashi tends to subvert expectations so let us hold on to that.

We may or may not find out the truth soon but considering the importance of Beyond’s Prince to his plan, perhaps near the end of this batch of chapters or in the next, we will find out the truth.

There is also the fact that of all eight of Nasubi’s legal wives, Halkenburg’s mother, Duazul, has the most number of children, which would allow Beyond to hide the truth of his birth.

Halkenburg’s full siblings are 2nd Prince Camilla, Tubeppa, and Luzurus and of all these children, Halkenburg has the most talent in Nen, which was also unlocked as fast as Tserriednich but not in an overwhelming manner.

However, Halkenburg and Tserriednich are made the most prominent Princes because of their unusual Nen talent, which was triggered only within the Contest.

At the end of Chapter 401: “Moonlight”, Beyond gets a visitor and this could be his Princely offspring, which brings up the possibility that Beyond might have used this visit to awaken or teach Nen to Halkenburg.

There is also another possibility that Beyond Netero already initiated his Princely spawn, albeit in a less destructive manner given their value.

Camilla

Of the 14 Princes, Camilla was the only Prince alongside Benjamin with prior Nen experience before entering the Contest with the ability Cat’s Name

However, what makes Camilla a likely candidate is her knowledge of curse Nen and her private army.

Nearly all of Camilla’s guards are Nen Curse users assigned to specific Princes, which aligns so well with Beyond’s plans, which involve using his own children as Nen Curse assassins.

Is it possible that Camille knows that these individuals are Beyond Netero’s children and that she has used them to attempt to kill her siblings?

Benjamin

Of the 14 Princes, Benjamin was the only Prince alongside Camilla with prior Nen experience before entering the Contest, having his own Hatsu, Benjamin Baton.

Benjamin Baton allows Benjamin to acquire the abilities of any of his soldiers in the event that they die.

As the firstborn and head of the military, Benjamin would give Beyond Netero quite the advantage and would even allow him to escape prison, if he wished.

Additionally in the Bible, Benjamin is the name of Jacob’s last son and “most beloved” after Joseph, who was lost in Egypt back then, so you could put up some angles there.

However, we might also consider eliminating First Prince Benjamin as he is likely over 30 years old.

Then again, Longhi may not even know how long Beyond planned everything, with 30 years being either a fixed number or a likely estimate.
