The release of the “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack” movie is drawing near and we get some neat surprises.

It is confirmed by the official Attack on Titan anime account and website that there will be a post-credits scene that was not there in the Blu-ray or TV versions of the Final Chapters, which “The Last Attack” has compiled.

Hajime Isayama, the author of Attack on Titan, has also handed illustrations of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin (affectionally called E.M.A. by the fandom and Hiroyuki Sawano’s soundtrack) to anyone watching the movie in Japan.

One likely possibility of what this additional scene could be is “Attack on School Caste”, the set of “fake previews” in each volume from Volume 21 (December 9, 2016) to Volume 34 (June 9, 2021), specifically the final “fake preview” where the alternate versions of Eren, Armin, and Mikasa were watching the final chapter of the manga as a movie and each character represented a side in the fandom’s discourse (which confirms Isayama’s awareness over these discourses).

The anime already adapted “Nerd Armin” and “Goth Mikasa” in the Memory Shards sequence of Episode 78: “Two Brothers”, which was a request from Isayama himself.

On September 4, 2024, Masafumi Mima, the sound director of Attack on Titan, posted an old photo of his time with the voice actors of Eren (Yuki Kaji), Mikasa (Yui Ishikawa), and Armin (Marina Inoue).

which made some fans assume that there will be a new scene added to the movie and while it was confirmed to be an old photo, the timing of the post to the manga’s 15th anniversary indicates that there were already plans for a new scene for quite some time.

The animation team have also begun their countdown towards the release of the “Last Attack” movie, beginning with an illustration of Colossal Armin vs Eren by Motoi Okuno, the 3DCG animation director.

Attack on Titan: The Last Titan will premiere on November 8, 2024 in Japanese theaters.
