Vinland Saga To End in 2025

Vinland Saga’s end has already been looming but Makoto Yukimura’s words suggest that we might be getting the final chapter by 2025.

In an interview with Anime Corner on October 18, 2024, Vinland Saga author Makoto Yukimura has stated that he only has a few chapters left to write:

“(laughs) As of now, October [18] 2024, I only have a few more chapters to write for the story of Vinland Saga. I came this far just the way I planned, but honestly from this point and beyond I have no idea what’s going to happen. Honestly, I don’t know how this is going to pan out at the end. I’m going to do my best, though.”

This suggests that Vinland Saga will end in 2025, whether in 1-3 chapters or in 10 chapters.

That is because there are currently 6 chapters for Volume 29 and they have yet to reach the required number of pages (around 192 to 200 pages per volume).

Yukimura also sends his message on what he wants Vinland Saga to be for the world, saying:

“One time, 20 years ago, someone told me we should think about war when there is no war. Because it is already too late by the time war is happening to think about it. I hope people will think about war now, and then hope for peace. If that message has been conveyed to as many people in the world [as possible], that would make me really happy.”

The final arc, which fans dubbed the “Vinland Arc”, began in 2019 with the release of Chapter 167.

Since then, there have been nearly 50 chapters published.

Vinland Saga was written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura in April 13, 2005 for Kodansha, first in Weekly Shōnen Magazine before moving to Monthly Afternoon.

By August 2022, Vinland Saga had over 7 million copies in circulation.
