One Piece Creates New Office Position in the Manga Industry
The former editor in chief for Weekly Shonen Jump holds the second most important position in One Piece content creation.
One Piece is once again setting new records and feats just by existing.
Recently, it was revealed that Former Weekly Shonen Jump Editor-in-Chief Hiroyuki Nakano now has a new, official title: “ONE PIECE Media Editor-in-Chief”.

The official announcement states that this brand-new position is exclusively tied to One Piece and not Shueisha and was established during the second half of 2024, which Pewpiece comments demonstrates the full extent of the One Piece influence.
On June 2024, Hiroyuki Nakano has officially left its position as Editor-in-Chief at Weekly Shonen Jump after 7 years.
With the new position, Nakano is able to greenlight the creation of new One Piece content, movies, specials, games, merchandise and collaborations, so Eiichiro Oda can focus on writing the manga.
It is interesting that this position was made during the Final Saga of the manga, which could indicate a stable future for the One Piece story even after it has concluded.
This position can give interesting implications for the future, such as fewer breaks or even without breaks becoming regular, Oda would have more free time to relax and be with family.
There could be two or so more movies while the anime adapts the rest of the manga content at a slower pace than what we have been used to for the past 20 years.
There might possibly be post-anime or post-manga content for the One Piece franchise distinct from the main story
