Jujutsu Kaisen is the Best-Selling Manga of 2024

On November 27, 2024, we received the final yearly ranking in manga sales from Oricon, a company that provides comprehensive monitoring of sales in music, video games and manga from Japan.

Within this yearly ranking, Jujutsu Kaisen emerges as this year’s biggest seller with 7.6 million sales.

Jujutsu Kaisen tops this year ranking, followed by One Piece.

With the anime boosts Frieren and Kusuriya complete the upper part of the ranking.

Although 2024 was the year in which Eiichiro Oda took the most breaks, with 16 weeks of breaks being taken, One Piece still stood strong with 5.2 million sales. One Piece only released 32 chapters out of the 52 weeks of the year.

Frieren, Apothecary Diaries and Kaiju No.8 have sold particularly well this year as their anime adaptations aired in 2024.

Blue Lock, which was the best seller of 2023, maintains a strong spot at 5th place. We will see how the controversial second season will affect sales for 2025.

Although the manga had concluded in 2020, Haikyu!! continues to , which could be attributed to the release of the first of the two Haikyū!! FINAL movies,  “Haikyū!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump”, in February 16, 2024. The movie has grossed $100.4 million worldwide.

We also received the 50 top-selling volumes of 2024 as well, with One Piece Volume 108 as the best-selling of this year with 1.5 million copies sold, followed closely behind by Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25.

Although not among the top 30, Hunter x Hunter appears among the top 10 most sold volumes due to the release of the most recent volume and Togashi’s return on October 2024.

Among the top 50 volumes, Frieren has the most number of volumes on the list, reaching a total of 9 volumes (1, 8-13) with Volume 12 at the top.

Come April 2025, there will be a list of Series Top 50 and a Volume Top 200.
