Chihiro Fights WITHOUT ENTEN! Kagurabachi Chapter 64 Spoilers!!
Realizing he has to keep up with the big leagues, Chihiro prepares to surpass his limits by fighting without his Enchanted Blade

After two weeks, Kagurabachi is back.
In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, we get an exciting motorcycle chase, showing off how powerful Kugiri’s swordplay is as he faces off against Chihiro and Sumi of the Masumi unit.
Kagurabachi Chapter 64 is titled: “Become a Samurai”
This chapter has 19 pages.
The chapter begins with Sumi still on her bike throwing Chihiro’s sheathe for Enten back
Editor’s note: Samura’s daughter, Iori is being targeted.. And infront of the chaser Kuguri, what will Chihiro do..?
“Volumes 1~5 selling like great! Kagurabachi will certainly accelerate its progress in 2025 too!”
While recalling his motto (“To cut is to converse), Kuguri notes that he cannot be too excited as he is in the middle of a job, which is to kidnap Iori, Samura’s daughter.
Chihiro notes that Kuguri and the female Hishaku member were not around when his father Kunishige was killed by the Hishaku.
Did he recall Hiruhiko being there during the massacre?
We flashback to his conversation with the Masumi unit and Chihiro recalls how Samura offered to be the one to handle the Enchanted Blade when he acknowledges Chihiro’s desire for revenge
Chihiro says that fighting Samura has stripped him of his rights to revenge.
Since the Masumi wants to solve as many problems as possible before Hakuri wakes up, Chihiro asks Rou, the captain, to solve one particular problem fast.
Chihiro’s weakness.
Chihiro blames himself for Hakuri’s reckless decisions to use Warehouse at his expense, such that Chihiro feels codependent towards Hakuri’s sorcery.
Rou notes that Chihiro might be exaggerating, likely impressed by the swordsmanship Chihiro already displayed even after immediately losing to Samura.
This loss to Samura made Chihiro realize he needs to go beyond even his own polished skills.
Chihiro then explains that at the core of sorcery is physical strengthening enhancement, as shown when people allow spirit energy to swirl all over their bodies to move at superhuman speeds and boost their endurance.
Some people, such as Samura, have focused particularly on combat, with sorcery only as an aiding factor.
Rou goes on to say that swordsmanship is an obvious extension of this principle as spirit energy can empower sword blows.
Then we get some juicy lore on the Seitei War.
The wielders of the six Enchanted Blades were already famous for their spirit-enhanced swordsmanship even before the Seitei War.
However, it turns out that these six only had 1 to 2 years of experience through the Seitei War, which means that the Seitei War started 19-20 years ago, since we know that the war ended 18 years ago, right around the time Chihiro would have been born.
Chihiro himself had 3 or more years, counting his training before he lost his father.
Because of this comparison, Chihiro notes that although his years spent with the sword are higher, he does not have the same depth of understanding compared to the Enchanted Blade wielders due to their wartime experience.
Shiba did remark that he is a sorcerer and does not know anything about swordsmanship
Since Chihiro is already compatible with his Enten, the next step is to master his swordsmanship to the level of the other Enchanted Blade users, especially the highest caliber represented by Samura.
Chihiro realizes that he has also been dependent on the sorcery of the Enchanted Blade just as he said he was with Hakuri’s sorcery.
The narrator remarks that this is the first battle where Chihiro does not unsheathe Enten, his Enchanted Blade.
With the title drop, we get the sense that this is the moment that Chihiro becomes a true swordsman.
We return to the present as Kuguri and Chihiro clash, with Kuguri complaining that he can no longer focus now that his slashing desire is taking over.
As they fight, Chihiro notices that Kuguri’s attacks have gotten heavier.
Rou observes that this is what Chihiro was talking about, that without his sorcery, Chihiro has gotten sluggish.
Kuguri is surprised by Chihiro’s technique asking who taught him how to fight but Chihiro reveals to Kuguri that he has no master.
Kuguri expected as much because he noticed that Chihiro’s swordplay and spirit energy were all wishy-washy.
Chihiro then explains that this fight with Kuguri is his chance to polish it, to train in real comat.
Kuguri seems to comment on a shonen acton trope where actual combat would allow the main character to power up.
Kuguri has a flashback of the time Yura requested Kuguri to teach Hiruhiko swordsmanship
This session seems to reinforce the parallels Hiruhiko and Chihiro share.
Yes, Hiruhiko will be Chihiro’s rival, redeemed anti-hero, maybe more?
Kuguri goes on a long explanation of how the Kagurabachi power system works, where infusing a katana with spirit energy allows the user to become one with their blade.
However, Hiruhiko interrupts the lecture, saying he has intuition (being made of killing) but Kuguri scolds Hiruhiko for this disrespectful attitude towards the craft of swordsmanship.
However, Kuguri is actually thinking out loud here, directing his anger at Chihiro.
To cut is to converse and Hiruhiko’s inability to understand the meaning and intent of every cut of the sword is an insult to Kuguri’s personhood
Kuguri expresses frustration with people like Hiruhiko who do not respect the art of swordplay that he gets distracted from the mission while fighting.
This is another reason why Kuguri’s attacks are heavy. Bro is mad.
As a result, Kuguri runs off, much to Rou and the others’ surprise
The narrator explains that though Chihiro’s three years of training gave him battle sense and physical foundation, he lacked “a model”.
He lacked a particular fighting style and discipline to channel his strikes and expression.
Kuguri ran away to focus on the mission and because he was disappointed that Chihiro was also someone who did not see the value of the art.
Now Chihiro, hearing Kuguri’s rant, realized that he needed to improve his spiritual energy infusion, by making sure every blow fits into a “form”.
Recalling all his experiences, Chihiro finds a model from his recent fights.
Iai: White Purity Lotus style.
Chihiro recalls Uruha’s explanation of the sword-drawing technique, as it places all of the user’s spiritual energy to its absolute limit within the sheathe itself, and with the drawing of a sword, all of that is released in a vibrant explosion, resulting in the fastest strike possible.
When Chihiro catches up to Kuguri using Iai, the latter recognizes the style yet once again, Kuguri thinks that Chihiro is not quite experienced as Chihiro is merely imitated a pre-created mold, rather than make it his own.
Now Kuguri has the urge to teach Chihiro where he failed to with Hiruhiko.
Yet he recalls that he still has a job and it is to catch up to Sumi and Iori.
Kuguri dwells in himself again as he recalls teaching Hiruhiko and we continue where we left as Hiruhiko says that Kuguri is too serious and that makes him boring.
To double it down, Yura says that Kuguri should let Hiruhiko do as he pleases.
His boss and his student now disrespecting him in his mind, Kuguri enters his slashing desire mode and they begin clashing.
Sumi looks at the fighting behind her, a fight taking place in the middle of traffic, and remarks that they might lose.
Editor’s Note: “The plan right now is simple.. to flee!”
Takeru Hokazono’s author comment this week: “The new Superman made by James Gun looks awesome. On release, I want to go and watch the premiere of it in theatres..!”
Kagurabachi Chapter 65 will be released on January 27, 2025.
