In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, Denji’s stomach gets full and he is about to puke a devil into the Aging World.

How will that be helpful in this case?

Chainsaw Man Chapter 188 is titled, “Octopus, War, Chainsaw”

This chapter has 14 pages.

As it turns out, Denji unleashes not the Octupus Devil but Yoshida.

Apparently, Chainsaw Man can store humans in its stomach without digesting them like what a normal stomach would do.

Recall that in Chapter , Pochita ate the Octopus Devil, which meant that something happened to Yoshida.

As it turns out, he was eaten alongside his Devil.

Or perhaps…he is not human at all.

This leads into the idea that Yoshida is the Octopus Devil.

Octopi are complex creatures, with tentacles that can operate independently.

Could that translate into a cloning ability?

Now we understand why Yoshida was spotted in a forest in the back illustration of Volume 17, where he is on the cover.

The illustration foreshadows his entry into the Aging World.

Additionally, octopi are able to camouflage with their surroundings, so Yoshida might have a shapeshifting ability or, like the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, primarily have human forms.

However, considering how convenient Yoshida’s contract with the Octopus Devil was, it feels like Yoshida is simply wearing a skin

After a briefing of the situation, Yoshida explains that since the Aging Devil is able to communicate, Public Safety is involved and that makes Yoshida and Denji enemies again but

Yoshida makes light of his previous opposition to Asa and Denji and forces Asa to shake hands in agreement.

While still holding Asa’s arm, Yoshida explains that his teacher taught him about the best way to deal with a bear.

To the teacher, each side should strive to be in their respective worlds, the human in the town and the bear in the forest.

So when the human enters the forest and sees a bear, then the human should leave the forest.

However, when the bear enters the town, the human should find ways to lead the bear out of the town.

Speaking like an octopus who adapts to his environment. Hmm…

This is a pragmatic view of survival, as rather than the overrated and immoral “kill or be killed”, it is “do not kill or more die”.

Seeing the situation, Yoshida realizes that the teacher could be right about this particular circumstances as he is trapped with two enemies, two bears, who cannot leave without the other person.

Asa and Denji by themselves have not proven capable of escaping Aging’s World.

Yoshida gives his hands to the pair, who are sick of his presence.

Asa wonders how Yoshida will contribute since Devil powers do not work in Aging’s World.

Yoshida asks Denji if he can shove his hand inside his mouth since it is connected to Pochita’s stomach.

This was something that some fans might have considered.

However, if Yoshida’s tentacles could be used if the arm emerged into the real world, would the same principle not apply to Yoru’s Gun and Tank Devil arms?

Then again, Yoru’s abilities did not do any harm at all to the Aging Devil during their fight.

Perhaps Yoshida’s solution is to restrain the Aging Devil and use it as an anchor to pull Denji, Asa, and himself out of Aging’s World.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 189 will be released on January 7, 2025.
