In the previous Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter, Konohamaru follows Shikamaru’s plan to charm Matsuri and prevent the Shinju from coming together as a threat to the Leaf Village.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 18 gives us a preview page showing Konohamaru and Matsuri talking.

The two sit together while Matsuri is constantly blushing and acting nervous around Konohamaru.
Matsuri expresses how she feels more comfortable with the more time she spends with Konohamaru.
Konohamaru notes this is still their first time speaking.
However, Matsuri expresses gratitude over how she can express her true self around him.
This leads Matsuri to ask if it is okay for her to call him “Konohamaru-chan”, as a sign of affection, much to Konohamaru’s surprise.
This is also what Moegi, Matsuri’s original template, calls Konohamaru, which might mean that Moegi also shared this level of deep feelings even into adulthood.
In the original series, Moegi was hinted to have always liked Konohamaru.
This furthers the moral complexity of the conflict over the sentient Shinju, who act more like innocent children learning about the world.
If Konohamaru betrays her trust for the sake of the world, what good will it do everyone in the end?
