Jujutsu Kaisen: Grade 1 Sorcerers Ranked!

Jujutsu Kaisen has one of the best power systems in Shonen, which relies on cursed energy.

Sorcerers convert this cursed energy to attach and exorcise curses. Like any other power system, there’s a ranking system in the series that classifies both sorcerers and curses on the basis of their ability.

For sorcerers, the criteria for ranking them are cursed energy level, cursed technique, experience, and combat abilities.

These ranks are called “Grades”. A sorcerer can attain a grade from Grade 4 up to Grade 1.

Grade 4 is the lowest rank, while Grade 1 is the highest, sort of. A unique grade called “Special Grade” exists for sorcerers who are anomalies or special cases, quite literally.

In this article, we’ve ranked all Grade 1 sorcerers according to strength!

5) Atsuya Kusakabe:

A teacher for second-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Kusakabe tends to avoid conflict as much as possible, even as a Grade 1 sorcerer.

Still, he is a proficient swordsman who possesses a good amount of strength.

While he lacks an innate cursed technique, which defines how strong a sorcerer is in most cases, Kusakabe managed to earn the rank of Grade 1 by mastering the New Shadow Style and its Simple Domain.

Kusakabe mainly uses the Batto Sword Drawing technique to dramatically increase the drawing speed of his sword.

While he was interrupted before using it, the Evening Moon Sword Drawing technique seems to be his ace.

Although we haven’t seen him fight much, Kusakabe is a well-respected sorcerer, even earning a compliment from Kenjaku.

However, his lack of an innate cursed technique stops him from ranking any higher.

4) Kento Nanami:

A former salaryman, Nanami Kento came back to become a sorcerer due to his sense of responsibility.

Nanami is known for being logical and a quick problem solver, assessing and managing situations in the most effective way.

He has proven this multiple times, like during the Mahito incident and Sibuya Incident, leading people around him.

Nanami also possesses a great level of cursed energy, and an innate cursed technique in the form of the Ratio technique, which points out the weak point of a subject in a 7:3 ratio.

He is also one of the best examples of using a binding vow well, giving him a power boost of up to 130%.

Before Itadori, Nanami held the record of hitting the most number of Black Flash consecutively.

While Nanami is an extremely strong individual, the max he can deal with is the “newer” stage of Mahito, a special grade curse.

The lack of a domain and explosiveness in his cursed technique stops him from reaching the peak of Jujutsu Kaisen, however, he is still one of the strongest characters in the series!

3) Aoi Todo:

A third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High, Todo Aoi, aka everybody’s besto friendo, was mentored by Yuki Tsukumo, a Special Grade Sorcerer.

With his immense cursed energy, insane physical strength, and an amazing technique in Boogie Woogie, which allows him to swap places with an object after a clap, Aoi has made a name for himself.

Geto once defeated five grade 1 and one special grade cursed spirit alone, countered Hanami with ease, and even went toe-to-toe against Mahito!

This makes him an extremely strong sorcerer with tons of potential, which unfortunately, will never be realized due to the loss of his hand against Mahito.

2) Mei Mei:

While she is a grade 1 sorcerer, Mei Mei is instead known for only working when a good sum of money is assured.

Because her innate cursed technique which allows her to control crows was considered to be weak, Mei Mei trained hard to become an expert at close combat and use her crows for scouting and to attack using a binding vow.

A single bird strike can kill a special cursed spirit, as seen in her fight against the smallpox deity.

Gojo is the only known survivor of the attack, who has acknowledged her strength.

1) Masamichi Yaga:

A former principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High and the mentor of Geto Suguru and Gojo Satoru, Yaga is hailed as the strongest puppet user.

His magnum opus, Panda, an independent puppet who can use and replenish its cursed energy is a Grade 2 sorcerer!

Yaga deeply understands the concepts of cursed energy and soul, which allows him to create cursed corpses.

When he finally revealed his technique of creating cursed corpses like Panda, Principal Gakuganji exclaimed that Yaga was easily a special grade sorcerer, leaving no argument against his superiority as the strongest Grade 1 sorcerer!
