Bleach: Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s Zanpakuto Explained
Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s Zanpakuto stands as a testament to his intellect and hunger for science.
The mad scientist who once was considered dangerous enough to the prisoner in Maggot’s Nest. He is also the only Shinigami who constantly modifies his zanpakuto.
During the Quincy Blood War, he installed a sensor in his zanpakuto to atomatically block all sword attacks within two feet from his body and at an angle of sixty degrees or more.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s Zanpakuto: Ashisogi Jizo
Mayuri’s zanpakuto is called Ashisogi Jizo and usually has its gaurd covered in cloth. It has several protruding spikes coming out from right below his blade.
The zanpakuto features a pink hilt and hands in front of Mayuri.
Shikai
As Mayuri commands his zanpakuto, “Rip,” Ashisogi Jizo glows and transforms into a deformed trident with its blades curved like a snake.
Its gaurd is rather unique in that it looks like a baby’s head with its hands clasped in prayer position.
All of this is mounted on a very nomal-looking hilt that has spikes protruding on either side, resembling golden leaves.
Shikai is a weapon that works like the venom of a spider bite when it stabs an opponent.
The venom severs the brain signal controlling the movement of the victim. However, unlike usual paralysis venoms, it does not affect pain receptors, and nerve endings are unaffected.
This causes the victims to still feel pain, and even after healing the wound, the effects of paralysis do not go away quickly.
Ashisogi Jizo also has a special technique called Kyodo Yon. In this, Mayurio sticks his finger in one eye of the baby’s head. This causes a dark fluid to leak when the baby opens its mouth to scream.
Anyone who does not have Mayuri’s blood in them will get paralyzed upon hearing the scream.
Furthermore, unlike its usual ability to stop movement, this completely paralyzes everything.
Bankai: Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo
Upon releasing his Bankai, Ashisogi Jizo’s baby head opens its mouth and produces a giant creaute with the body of a caterpillar in a red cape with a grotesque baby head and arms.
It also has a silver halo hovering above its head, and it has four bells, with two on each side. Upon release, it emits its own red reiatsu.
In this form, Mayuri’s zanpakuto returns to its sealed state.
In this state, the creature will follow Mayuri’s verbal commands. While using his bankai, Mayuri’s reiatsu also turns red.
The released creature breathes a poisonous derivative of Mayuri’s blood. This gas is lethal to anyone who breathes it, except Mayuri and Nemu.
The gas spreads to an area of 200 meters around Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo and makes it completely unavoidable.
Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo’s poison is so strong that it completely broke Szayelaporro’s body.
Mayuri constantly changes the composition of the poison to avoid the creation of an antidote or immunity within individuals.

Other techniques of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo include:

Mayuri also has a special modified form of his bankai called Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo: Matai Fukuin Shotai.

It’s head is misshapen, with completely white eyes and a branch holding large boxes coming out of each eye.

Matai Fukuin Shotai can create modified versions of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo with the information that Mayuri sends it.
This modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo allows Mayuri to counter the specific abilities of opponents.
During its fight against Pernida Parnkgjas, a.k.a. the left hand of the Sould King, Mayuri used his modified Bankai to defeat it.
Matai Fukuin Shotai, using data provided by Mayuri, created Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo, which had nerves on the surface of its body.
