Will Fami Give Up Being the Villain? Chainsaw Man Chapter 194 Review!
Chainsaw Man Part 2 might be letting go of its main antagonist. Or is this yet another trick from the Famine Horseman?

In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, Yoru seduces Denji into fighting the Death Devil so they can be in bed together.
Chapter 194 is titled, “Fun School Festival”
This chapter has 15 pages.
The chapter begins with Denji waking up next to a sleeping Yoru.
Although tempted to touch her, Denji simply covers her up in the bed and he begins preparing more pot stickers for breakfast.
Denji is at least self-aware of his predicament, that once again a dangerous woman likes him, which means that he will be in danger.
Fami and The Full Meaning of Famine
In a park, Yoshida converses with Fami, telling her that in one month, the Death Devil will descend, and so they request for her help
This means we are now on June 1999.
Much of the story has revolved around Fami’s plots to control the War and Chainsaw Devils, ranging from the Fire and Falling Devil attacks to the Chainsaw Man Church.
She might have some role in the Aging Devil attacks since she was barely presented or affected (unless we count the temporary loss of the Mouth Devil, in which case she might have momentarily panicked).
However, Fami refuses for the reason that Fourth East High is having a festival to pray for Tokyo’s revival, and that she is part of the planning committee.
While Fumiko Mifune argues for humanity’s survival being at stake, Fami notes that her reasons for getting involved are for her own amusement and they tie to her nature as Famine, as she likes to savor food and pleasures the same way.
She hung out with Denji, Asa, and Yoru for fun because their misery was enjoyable.
She might also be a representation of the Chainsaw Man reader base.
Which we see when she decides to leave Yoshida and Mufine, which could also mean that the plot of Chainsaw Man wants to leave the schemers behind to, momentarily at least, enjoy its mundane pleasures.
Some of Fami’s plans did involve a lot of damage, in spite appearing to be working for humanity’s best interests
Yet here we have Fami contemplating about an ordinary life the same way Makima did even as early as the start of the Katana Man Arc in Part 1.
The three Horsemen all seek the ordinary, to escape their “destinies” or “obligations”.
Whether it is to hate humanity as a devil or to save humanity as a human, neither of these positions satisfy that personal longing for the simple joy of watching a movie or eating pot stickers in front of an apocalyptic backdrop.
Perhaps Chainsaw Man, the story, is also written to address a specific “famine”, that of the lack of enjoyment in media.
While Chainsaw Man is very specific about its themes of exploitation and tragedy, there is always a consistent tone of dark humor and pleasure in the corners of every page.
There will always be edgy anime moments, ultra-violence, and serious debates on human existence but always, ever-present is the enjoy of the detours and the ordinary life.
Scenes in the anime in particular, like Aki’s morning routine in Episode 4 of Season 1, express that intent.
Makima and Fami contemplating on the fun of the ordinary with the same frustrated tone come to mind.
However, while Makima plays on the irony of Control, that a controlled, ordered environment does not give her the fun of hanging out with Denji and the Devil Hunters, Fami is more of an observer who delights in misery.
Yet even hanging out with Yoshida and Mifune does not bring her any pleasure as they are too serious and distasteful people, which could mean that even the manipulative and trigger-happy Fami does not like the way Yoshida thinks, akin to Yoru’s own commentary on the dishonesty of humans in Chapter 191:”‘Cuz I’m a Devil” .
Fami’s classmates pick her up while Yoshida sulks over being called “unfun”, which does mean there are things that do affect Yoshida.
Asa Hits Her Breaking Point
Yoru plays around with her Gun Devil arm, hitting multiple derelict buildings.
Denji seems to be enjoying this until suddenly, the finger is pointed at him.
Geez, how many times must that thing always point at people for insta-death in Chainsaw Man?
Anyway, Denji already accepts that he is screwed as he always knew he would inevitably be dragged into the flow by a dangerous woman.
However, if you look carefully, the one holding the gun is not Yoru but Asa.
