About Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito
Before we understand his technique, we must know about Muichiro himself.
He is one of the nine Hashira, the highest-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Muichiro is a young boy with small stature and a lean muscular build.
He has long, straight black hair which fades to mint green as it approaches his waist. Muichiro wears a dark, slightly turquoise-tinted kimono-esque uniform hiding his general movement.
Muichiro is an air-headed individual who usually stays in his own thoughts and cannot focus on anything.
He was formally introduced in episode 22 of season 1 when all the Hashira were summoned to decide what to do with Tanjiro. As he had been travelling with a demon, his sister Nezuko.
While the rest of Hashira are discussing about Tanjiro, Mouchiro was engrossed in the clouds. Even when the Master of the mansion decided, what would happen to Tanjiro, he replies by saying he does not care as he will forget it anyways.
Despite being 14 years old he is physically strong and has high respect for Kagaya Ubuyashiki. When Tajiro interrupted Master, he quickly flicked a few pebbles at Tanjiro, rendering him unconscious.
In season 2, Tengen mentioned that Muichiro attained the rank of Hashira in just two months, further solidifying his superior discipline and raw talent.
What is Mist Breathing Style?
Mist Breathing is a breathing style based on mist. It tries to replicate the obscurity of mist and the user’s movement, technique and abilities all focus to replicate it.
Mist Breathing, similar to Beast Breathing is derived from Wind Breathing. It was created by Mokaro Ashikaga and Muichiro Tokito is the current user of mist breathing.
Nearly all of the techniques and forms involve swift strikes and movements in unique patterns to obscure the opponent’s sense and surrounding as if the battlefield is surrounded by mist.
Muichiro’s baggy clothes also help in hiding his body movement aiding in the overall effectiveness of his breathing style.
Different Forms of Mist Breathing
This breathing style originally has six forms of breathing. A seventh form was created and is utilized by Muichiro the current user of this style.
Now let’s learn about them.
First Form: Low Clouds, Distant Haze
In this form, the user unleashes a powerful thrust attack in front of them.
Muichiro first uses this technique in Swordsmith village to escape Gyokko’s Water Prison Pot but fails to escape.
Second Form: Eight-Layer Mist
Activating this form, the user unleashes eight forward-facing slashes causing a stream of slashes.
When the first form of mist breathing failed, Muichiro then used the second form and successfully escaped Gyokko’s Water Prison Pot.
Third Form: Scattering Mist Splash
In this form, the user releases a powerful circular slash in front of them.
We see Muichiro use it to defend himself from projectiles.
Fourth Form: Shifting Flow Slash
The user quickly unsheathes their sword and dashes towards the enemy at blinding speed while lowering themself down. Then delivers a quick slash at the lower half of the opponent.
Muichiro upon realising the Hantengu is an upper rank, activates the fourth form.
Fifth Form: Sea of Clouds and Haze
In this form, the user dashes forwards at a high speed and unleashes a fury of attack covering a wide area while obscuring their movement.
In the Swordsmith Village arc, Gyokko uses his Blood Demon Art: Octopus Vase Hell. To counter it Muichiro uses the Fifth Form.
Sixth Form: Lunar Dispersing Mist
In this, the user backflips into the air and while upside down delivers countless ranged slashes downwards, capable of destroying dozens of targets.
Tokito uses this form to counter Gyokko’s Blood Demon Art: Ten Thousand Gliding Slime Fish.
Seventh Form: Obsuring Clouds
This form was created by Muichiro himself. In this, he drastically changes the tempo/speed of his movement to disorient the enemy.
When he is visible it seems like he is moving very slowly but the moment he hides, Muichiro moves in a blink of an eye.
That was all about Mist Breathing and its forms. We hope you were able to learn about Muichiro Tokito’s MIst Breathing.
