Demon Slayer: Was Tanjiro’s Father A Demon Slayer?
Numerous fans were convinced that Tanjiro’s father had defeated Muzan in the past and was a strong Demon Slayer!
The Demon Slayer has gained a significant number of fans, resulting in the emergence of various fan theories and speculations.
One such theory is related to whether Tanjurou, Tanjiro Kamado’s father, was a Hashira or a Demon Slayer.
In the series, Tanjurou is seen instructing Tanjiro in the Dance of the Sun/Fire God.
However, Tanjiro, being a child at the time, did not fully grasp all the steps of the dance, and as he grew older, he forgot the details of those memories.
During Muzan’s flashback, we witnessed the shadow of the man who almost killed Muzan. He was eerily similar looking to Tanjirou, especially due to the scar and the Hanafuda Earrings.
Numerous fans were convinced that Tanjiro’s father had defeated Muzan in the past and was covertly the most powerful Demon Slayer to have ever lived, based on this.
Therefore, it raises the question: Was Tanjiro’s father truly a Demon Slayer?
Was Tanjiro’s Father A Demon Slayer?
Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who was the first human to utilize the Breathing Technique, was born almost a millennium prior to the current plotline and was the Demon Slayer who nearly vanquished Muzan.
He had an ability called “Transparent World”, which allowed him to see all living things as if they were transparent.
He was also very strong, and, as mentioned before, he is the one who first used the sun breathing technique. Yoriichi eventually got married, but his pregnant wife sadly passed away.
Yoriichi never remarried, but he did make a friend named Sumiyoshi. Sumiyoshi and Tanjiro looked exactly alike, which hints at Tanjiro being a reincarnation of Sumiyoshi.
Sumiyoshi had a wife and children, and Yoriichi became very close with the family.
He would often perform the sun-breathing dance for the family, which became ingrained in Sumiyoshi’s memory.
One day, Yoriichi gave Sumiyoshi the Hanafuda earrings and asked him to keep them and as his memento.
He never returns to visit the family.
Sumiyoshi then passed down the art of the Sun Dance and the Hanafuda earring as a memento to his son, who continued this tradition for generations.
Unfortunately, one of the 13 techniques was lost to time. Eventually, the art of the Sun Dance reached Tanjiro.
Hence, Tanjiro’s father is not a Demon Slayer. The man Muzan sees in his flashback is not Tanjurou, but that man is connected to the Kamado family.
