Giant Lucy! Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 168 Review

In the previous Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest chapter, we saw Brandish easily defeating a dragonified Karamel. Brandish takes care of the Dragon Lacrima that has turned the people of Ermina turn into dragon hybrids and happened to hold Aquarius’ broken key but Lucy is suddenly swallowed by the Water Dragon God Mercphobia.

Chapter 168 is titled, “Great Power Pierces Stone”

Brandish continues to use her embiggened fist to break the Dragon Lacrima holding Aquarius’ key but it does not break.

Seeing the dragon hybrids charging towards her, Brandish shrinks the town with Command T, with the town floating on a small water sphere, its people and buildings almost microscopic in size compared to Brandish’s hand.

After taking care of the town, Brandish observes Lucy struggle in Mercphobia’s mouth.

Realizing that Ignia’s Dragon Lacrima can only be destroyed with Dragon Slayer Magic, Brandish uses Command T to enlarge Lucy, who becomes much larger than the Dragon God.

Brandish suggests that Lucy throw the Dragon God on the Dragon Lacrima to break it.

Realizing that even at this size, she is no match for Mercphobia, Lucy changes from her Aquarius Dress to her Taurus Dress.

The Taurus form gives Luffy much added physical might to even use the serpentine Water Dragon God like a new whip until she throws Mercphobia on the Lacrima, breaking it and restoring the town and Mercphobia to human form.

The chapter ends with Brandish and Lucy looking at the now-freed Aquarius key, which may lead to the two fighting for it as Brandish intended.

The chapter showcases more of Brandish Myu as a supporting character, which is reflective of her continuing popularity ever since her introduction in the original series’ final arc, the Alvarez Empire Arc.

In her very first appearance in Chapter 433, we saw Brandish shrink the entire island of Caracole to be her foothold, and we see that flex once again when Brandish shrinks the entirety of Ermina and its people to near-microscopic size.

We could only hope that Brandish does not hold back against Lucy this time.

Through the Fairy Tail sequel, we have learned more about Brandish and her Command T powers, both its proper limits and flexible applications.

More importantly, we also give Lucy a new dynamic outside her main circle in Fairy Tail, which could bring another emotional conclusion to their rivalry just like a returning Aquarius revealing the truth behind the death of Brandish’s mother.

Thankfully, the chapter allows Lucy to flex her muscle, pun intended, rather than rely purely on Brandish.

Just like in Aldoron, Brandish’s support role created the path for characters like Gajeel and Lucy to take care of the Dragon Gods, since by herself, Brandish could not harm any Dragon.

This chapter shows the power of teamwork, which would be put to the test in the next chapter.
