KAFKA’S FORTITUDE IS OVER 10.0! Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 121 Review
Kaiju No. 8 has now reached the current peak of Kaiju evolution, no longer defined by the Fortitude system
In the previous Kaiju No. 8 chapter, Kafka unlocks the power of self-love and is able to shed his skin to achieve his peak form.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 121 has 22 pages.
The chapter begins where we left off as everyone witnesses Kafka change shape.
They are all surprised that they cannot measure Kaiju No. 8’s fortitude at this point.
The Defense Force Director General Keiji Itami notes that now they have entered a domain of no return for humanity as there is not only the Meireki Daikaiju but also Kaiju No. 8 himself.
There seems to be a difference between the evolutions of Kaiju No. 9 and No. 8.
While No. 9 assimilates other Kaiju, No. 8 assimilates the centuries of anger and resentment towards all Kaiju, condensed in a form produced by the fault lines that birth Kaiju
I am seeing Bleach flashbacks
Not only the choice to never revert to a certain form (Ichigo loses his original Soul Reaper powers while Kafka loses his humanity to fight), we also see the inability to sense power through ordinary means.
And in the next scene as Kaiju No. 8 throws the Daikaiju with one punch away from the city to prevent the citizens from being harmed.
Kafka apologizes to Mina since his transformation created shockwaves that destroyed two drones and thinks he owes the Defense Force a debt.
We see Kafka’s new face, with more lizard-like eyes but somehow they were more human than his initial form.
From that gaze, Mina could see this is truly Kafka.
Eastern Chief of Staff Juzo Nogizaka notes that Kafka’s new form is nothing like the one Isao faced in the Kaiju No. 8 Captured Arc.
Internally, Kafka senses the dark emotions swirling within him that have served as Kaiju No. 8’s fuel.
The Daikaiju senses the warriors it once defeated and begins laughing.
The being never uttered a single word after taking over from the talkative No. 9 yet here it is, laughing out loud.
After the laugh, the Daikaiju charges towards Kafka, destroying many buildings in its path
Pointing at the rampaging Daikaiju, Kafka tells him that everyone will be caught inbetween their skirmish if they stay here, so he punches the Daikaiju and throws him a fair distance.
The chapter ends with Kafka getting ready to catch up to the Daikaiju.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 122 will be released on February 13, 2025
