Kikoru Shinomiya, the STRONGEST Defence Force Member Today! Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 124 Review!

In the previous Kaiju no. 8 chapter, the Meireki Daikaiju uses No. 9’s powers to revive a ton of dead Kaiju, including No. 9’s offspring but Gen Narumi reveals that Kikoru Shinomiya has acquired Numbers Weapon 1 just like himself.

Kaiju No. 8 begins with a bigger reveal:

Kikoru is actually compatible with not two but FOUR Numbers Weapons.

She has class 5 compatibility with her mother’s armor, Numbers Weapon 4, which she has been wearing since Chapter , and Class 4 with Numbers Weapon 1, 2, and 7.

Weapon No. 2 belonged to her father, Isao, who, along with No. 2, are fused to No. 9, who is now the Meireki Daikaiju.

This was something Gen immediately leaked, in spite of being told not to reveal such confidential information.

He must have been giddy to see Kikoru grow yet he acknowledges that he will take full responsibility for what happens next.

We also learn that there are plenty of spare eyes from Kaiju No. 1 that were retrieved after its extermination.

This means multiple people could use the same Numbers Weapon.

Kikoru is the daughter of two of the strongest characters in the series, her mother, the Valkyrie Hikari, and her father, the then-director Isao, who is considered the strongest member of the Defense Force.

Could Kikoru actually wield FOUR Numbers Weapons at once? What would happen if she does?

There are so many what ifs with this chapter but an even bigger what-if is the fate of her father.

Although initially accepting that he might not come back, with the power and confidence Kikoru now has, the girl has every motivation to save her father, who might still be alive inside the former Kaiju No. 9.

Perhaps we might see that confirmation next chapter but right now, we are geared up for quite a battle.

Mina asks Okonogi for a favor. Perhaps a way to help Mina contribute again in the battle or something more?

Kikoru and Kafka work together to stop the Meireki Daikaiju and they are quite a poetic match.

The Daikaiju is the amalgamation of the entire Kaiju threat so far, especially as in the last chapter it brought back many dead Numbered Kaiju and the being itself also had the powers of No. 9 and No 2.

Kikoru’s lineage and personal desire to save her father match well with Kafka bearing the ghosts of those who want to defeat the Meireki Kaiju yet in a way, both represent a new future

Kafka is the first human to fully become a Kaiju, which should hopefully translate to a new complex conflict, even a “second saga” for Kaiju No. 8’s story.

Kikoru might be the strongest human in Kaiju No. 8 with her compatibility with Four Numbers Weapon, possibly more if this keeps up.

With Kikoru’s eyes guiding Kafka’s powerful fists, the one means to break the tough hide of the Daikaiju, they make quite a force by themselves.

First, Kikoru would need a way to dodge the Daikaiju’s precise No. 2 laser attacks and break through its force field.

Let us hope we see some meaningful progress in the next chapter.

This is yet another buildup chapter that doubles down what the previous one confirmed and while it is nice to see this, the chapter feels very easy to power through and is more like the other half of Chapter 123.

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 125 might be released on April 10, 2025.
