One Piece: Elbaf Arc Predictions
One Piece’s latest arc is about to bring us closer to the end
With the Elbaf Arc starting after the events of the Egghead Island arc, what can we expect the Straw Hat crew to encounter?
The Final Road Poneglyph
So far, Luffy has copies of the Zou, Whole Cake Island and Wano Road Poneglyphs. The latter two are territories of the Emperors Big Mom and Kaido respectively.
By that deduction, this leaves Elbaf, an allied territory of Shanks, another Yonko, as the other plausible location for the Poneglyph.
The four Road Poneglyphs put together would lead one to the location of Laughtale, the island where the One Piece is said to be located.
The final Road Poneglyph might be in Shanks’ possession, which could be how he can reach the One Piece, since he said in Chapter 1054 that it is time for their crew to claim the One Piece.
Alternatively, given how precious the Poneglyphs are and how tied they are to the Ancient Kingdom, it is possible that the Giants hoard the Road Poneglyph.
This could also explain why they are separated from the world, both to protect the secrets of the world and to prevent assimilation with the World Government that destroyed the Ancient Kingdom they could be connected to.
This also means that unlike Zou’s Road Poneglyph, Elbaf will likely not divulge its existence to the Straw Hats willingly.
Robin and Saul Reunite
In Chapter 1066, Vegapunk reveals to Nico Robin that Jaguar D. Saul, her friend in her childhood, is still alive and has brought back the surviving books of Ohara to Elbaf. This will an emotional reunion for both characters but there’s more to that.
With this reunion, we could also learn more about the Void Century outside of the shattering truths Vegapunk revealed in his final recording to the world.
Eustass Kid’s Fate Will Be Confirmed
When we last saw Eustass Kid, he was utterly defeated by Red-Haired Shanks.
Since his defeat parallels Trafalgar Law’s fall at the hands of Blackbeard, it is meant to symbolize the end of his dream.
However, as Elbaf signals a bigger step closer to the One Piece, it is likely that we will know if Law or Kid (or both) survived their encounters with the Yonko or not.
The same could be said of Garp’s encounter with Aokiji, though that will depend on Elbaf’s arc structure.
The World Government Will Invade Elbaf
With the Five Elders now becoming an active force in the war for the One Piece, there is a chance that Elbaf will be another battleground between Luffy and the World Government.
However, I do not think this will be an Egghead 2.0 as there are more forces at play that might either
It might not even be the Marines who attack Elbaf. Since Elbaf has the world’s strongest army, it might be time for God’s Knights to conduct a mission into the lower world, possibly even attempt to enslave the mightiest race for the glory of the Celestial Dragons or for Imu’s secret purposes.
Prince Loki might be the main antagonist of the arc
Prince Loki was Elbaf’s elusive heir or even current leader. He was promised to Lola, one of Big Mom’s daughters,
We have all heard the name “Loki” before. He is the trickster god of mischief, enemy of Thor, Tom Hiddleston, etc.
Not many realize that Loki was not purely an Asgardian but a Jotunn or giant. The Jotunn are the inspiration of the giants of One Piece, given the Viking aesthetic of the culture.
However, there is one other Loki he could be based on: Utgard-Loki, a king who challenges Thor and his brother Loki to do various feats after the two enter his territory.
He might be hostile to having outsider pirates stay, maybe even be opposed to Shanks.
Although Elbaf has shown its generosity through its relationship with Mother Carmel and Shanks, the country is also quite isolationist like Wano.
Perhaps Loki will force the Straw Hats to go through some challenges to maintain their stay.
Usopp will awaken Conqueror’s Haki
Wano, the land of origin for the world’s strongest swords, has given Zoro the place to awaken Conqueror’s Haki, allowing his swordsmanship.
An Observation Haki user of Usopp’s caliber with Conqueror’s Haki-imbued long-ranged attacks would be quite the force.
It would also make sense that Usopp would fulfill his dream as a brave warrior and build a stronger sense of identity by manifesting Conqueror’s Haki.
Luffy will finally learn the Will of D
Saul mentions that he is not only a giant with the D name but that there are a clan of giants with the D name.
Their presence could make Luffy learn more about the Void Century and especially about why his family and many others bear the D name.
Additionally, Sabo bearing King Cobra’s message and the truth of his D heritage could further Luffy’s involvement in the coming war.
Not only will Luffy be concerned due to Cobra being his friend through Vivi but he will have a greater connection to the otherwise distant past.
Luffy isn’t the type to be concerned with vendettas or old conflicts but he might gain some perspective with how the D are also involved with the One Piece.
Urouge Focus
The post-timeskip arcs so far have given special focus to different members of the Worst Generation. Law was the lead of the Dressrosa Saga.
Capone Bege was an ally of the Straw Hats during Whole Cake Island. Hawkins, Drake, Apoo, and especially Kid and Killer were given more depth in Wano.
Egghead was Jewelry Bonney’s arc, such that her whole backstory and mystery is explored here. Blackbeard is one of the main antagonists of the series, responsible for Ace and Whitebeard’s deaths.
This leaves the mysterious Mad Monk Urouge, who barely had any feats mentioned but had been a strong survivor in the New World, with his most prominent
Urouge could also bridge the Sky people’s lore with the Giants and the Ancient Kingdom, potentially having knowledge on some Poneglyphs or even missing history that we do not know about.
Enel Cameo
In SBS Volume 64, Oda drew the Supernovas as children, with Uruoge having a similar appearance to a Skypiean. However, as an adult, he has the wings of a Birkan, which faced downwards.
This connection with Birka could potentially bring Enel, the most prominent Birkan, back to the story,
Birka is actually the name of Sweden’s oldest town, dating to the 8th century, around the time the Vikings dominated the seas.
This means that there could be a link between Birka and Elbaf and possibly what Enel has been up to since his defeat in the Skypiea Arc.
Enel is currently on the Moon with the automata made in Karakuri Island that went to space to avenge their creator. The automata now serve Enel in his new empire.
Shanks and Luffy Reunite
Shanks is an ally of Elbaf, being its protector as a Yonko.
Although he is not on Elbaf due to pursuing Blackbeard, Shanks might return to Elbaf after some time, whether in the middle or by the end of the Elbaf arc.
Shanks’ presence could lead to a lot of interesting interactions, especially with the promise he made with Luffy to return his hat once Luffy became a great pirate.
A Yonko is a great pirate. However, Luffy views that as a mere stepping stone to the more fulfilling position of the Pirate King that Gol D. Roger once held.
There is always the possibility that Shanks might oppose Luffy. Even if Shanks has inherited Roger’s will, we do not know what Shanks’ agenda is with the One Piece.
Whether to test Luffy or to oppose him, Shanks will clash with a more powerful Luffy to determine who can claim Roger’s legacy.
