One Piece Just Released A Short Special Episode And It Is Interesting
One Piece just dropped a filler that teases the crew’s return in April.
On January 19, 2025, the One Piece Youtube channel released a special episode of One Piece lasting 5 minutes, 17 seconds, featuring only protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, together with Trafalgar Law.
This was originally broadcast at the MBS Anime Festival 2025 held on the same day.
This is set at the end of the Wano Country Arc as Law is shown healing from his injuries.
While training alone in the woods, Luffy sees Law come up to him.
Law explains that he cannot make contact with Bepo or his ship, the Polar Tang,
As they spoke, they witness a monster emerge
Luffy compares this Sea King to the Lord of the Coast that he defeated back in Fusha Village, the start of the series.
Law uses Room to cover the beast and uses Scan to find that in its throat was a sword.
Luffy punches the Sea King with Gum Gum Elephant Gun, making it spit out the sword lodged inside its throat.
However, the massive beast falls down upon them, making Luffy panic.
Law activates Room: Takt to cause the Sea King to float above them and land back to the sea.
Immediately, the creature emerges but rather than be upset with the two humans, his eyes turn friendly, expressing gratitude for removing the sharp sword causing it pain.
Luffy waves the creature goodbye as it leaves and the Thousand Sunny arrives with the whole Straw Hat crew as Luffy ends the short with his signature line: “I will become the King of the Pirates!”

Yasunori Koyama makes an interesting return after his incredible set of episodes, his Egghead Island contribution being Episode 1122, the conclusion to the iconic match between Monkey D. Garp and Kuzan.
Some have noted that the Elephant Gun animation is from Tomita.
The short is an interesting work as the art style is more reminiscent to the Egghead Island style than to the Wano style.
This filler offers nothing valuable outside of animators showing off their skills and giving fans more One Piece contents to fill the drought before the anime’s return in April 2025.
This does show an interesting application of Luffy and Law’s dynamic as rather than having an epic fight with a bad guy or monster, they combine their respective abilities to help a Sea King with a tough problem, a sword lodged on its throat.
Law’s Ope Ope no Mi and Luffy’s “fist of love” were essential for this creature to stop rampaging, which was what led to Bepo and the other Heart Pirates from being hard to reach in the first place, as well as show some kindness to a beast in need, which is fitting for Luffy, who has an affinity for large wild animals.
