One Piece SBS Volume 111: Page One and Ulti’s Father Revealed, Cover Story Might Reveal His Killer

On March 4, 2025, One Piece will release Volume 111 officially, which also means a new SBS section will reveal some juicy One Piece lore.

How Eustass Kid Acquired A Copy of Big Mom’s Poneglyph

A reader asks about how Eustass Kid managed to get a copy of Big’s Mom Poneglyph and Oda explains that he got it from attacking the warship commanded by Sweet Commander Snack.

Kid got the copy of the Road Poneglyph in exchange for sparing Snack.

It was also said that Kid ran away when he saw Big Mom, but in reality, his goal was simply to steal the Poneglyph.

Which sort of implied he would have enough confidence to take a Yonko even at this point.

This likely took place before Kid’s alliance with Apoo and Hawkins faced off against Kaido and were made to submit to him (with Kid being imprisoned on Wano while the other two became Kaido’s Headliners).

Hanafuda is Page One and Ulti’s Father

In this SBS, Oda reveals Hanafuda’s backstory when a reader wondered if he was the father of Page One and Ulti, two of Kaido’s six Tobiroppo and he answers with “surprise” over how the reader figured it out when Oda did his best to hide it well.

As pirates, Hanafuda clashed with Kaido in the past but ultimately formed an alliance due to their shared goal, whcih was to create the ultimate Zoan army.

The King of Lizards had such faith in Kaido that he entrusted his own children to him. Even his hobby of collecting Zoan fruits was meant to help strengthen the Beasts Pirates.

Hanafuda was among the many who were captivated by Kaido’s strength and gave their all to help him ascend to the throne of Pirate King.

After being defeated by Ace and banished from the Warlords, he was killed by pirates he held a grudge against while on his way to reunite with his children.

Oda introduced Hanafuda in SBS Volume 109, revealing that he was Kaido’s supplier of Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits and the former Warlord of the Sea that Portgas D. Ace defeated, which might be a possible reason, alongside being Roger’s son, why Ace got his 550 million Berry Bounty, which was the highest pre-timeskip bounty revealed.

This does bring up an idea as to who might be responsible for Hanafuda’s death since Volume 111 ends on Chapter 1133: “I Want You to Praise Me”, which coincidentally ends on the reveal that Holdem was the kidnapper through the “Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage” cover story.

In the next volume, Volume 112, we will see the already revealed content of Who’s Who being the new Beast Pirates remnants ringleader and the capture of Page One and Ulti.

With the degree of elaborate torture that the two went through in these two recent chapters, it is possible that Who’s Who killed Hanafuda, either to take his position among the Beast Pirates, possibly as a Tobiroppo, or out of a grudge.

The other possibility is that Hanafuda was killed by the World Government the same way Moria was supposed to die.

Doflamingo, with some Pacifista, tried to assassinate Moria, who was presumed dead for some time, because of Moria’s loss to the Straw Hats in the Thriller Bark arc and his poor performance in Marineford.

Perhaps X Drake was assigned and since he was already a pirate as part of his SWORD cover, he might have killed Hanafuda, either for the Government or to access Kaido.

This might even be where he acquired his Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus.

Either way, even if Hanafuda is an SBS-only character, the fact that his children are prominently featured in the current cover story tells us that Hanafuda’s death will be explored more through more direct canon sources.

Arlong’s Reaction to Jinbe Joining the Straw Hats

A reader asked about how Arlong reacted to the news of Jinbe joining the Straw Hats and it was quite comically a cringe face.

As early as Chapter 924: “Ha”, we have seen the “cringe face”, which was made by the Straw Hats when Luffy was captured but this face was more famous when used by Kozuki Oden, Whitebeard and Roger during the Oden flashback.

Lucci is at Risk

A reader bought up Shaka’s statement on how awakened Zoans would lose their minds and asked if the Jailer Beasts on Impel Down were humans, which Oda confirms as true and that Lucci. a human, is definitely at risk.

In Chaopter 544: “The Lid to the Cauldron of Hell Opens”, we meet our first Awakened Devil Fruit users in the form of the Awakened Zoan Jail Beasts that have lost their minds.

It seems that Episode 1100: “Powers on a Different Level! Luffy vs. Lucci!” of the One Piece anime predicted Lucci’s potential fate if he maintained his Awakening for too long as he was relishing in his predatory desires in his fight against Luffy, as exemplified in his facial expression.

However, so far it seems to apply to animalistic Zoans, rather than Mythical Zoans or the users of the Hito Hito no Mi variants (Human Human Fruit).

Luffy’s Satellites

When asked about Luffy having Vegapunk’s Satellites, Oda reveals that he would have five York Satellites and one Atlas Satellite.

York is the satellite of Greed while Atlas is the satellite of Violence and since York betrayed Stella in the Egghead Island Arc, the drawing presents concerns.

Although Oda considers Luffy to be his ideal of a pure child, he does express worry since he is a greedy person when it comes to adventure and meat.

Name of the One Piece Planet

A reader asked a layered question about the bridge that the Roger Pirates and Oden went under (either Tequila Wolf or Bourbon Wolf) and the name of the One Piece planet.

First, Oda answers the last question directly, saying it is the Blue Planet.

The term Blue Planet was first revealed in the cover story, Enel’s Great Space Operations (Chapters 428-474) but now through SBS Volume 111, this is confirmed to be what Oda and the world call it.

The aliens on the moon may not be the only ones to call the world the “Blue Planet” since Skypieans and Shandorans identify the sea below as the Blue Sea and with the entire world mostly being made up of Blue Sea, the Blue Planet makes sense as a name.

As for the bridge, Oda mentions that there are four Bridges but the bridge they passed by is definitely not Tequila Wolf but he cannot confirm if it is Bourbon Wolf either.

Tequila Wolf was the place Nico Robin was sent to by Kuma and it was an ancient bridge built by slaves that remains unfinished.

SMILE Fruits Never Last

A reader asks what happens to the SMILE fruit when a SMILE user dies, to which Oda reveals that as a man-made fruit, they will also die.

This means that unlike natural Devil Fruits, the unnatural SMILE devil fruits will not be recycled and manifest in a random part of the world for other beings to consume.

World Noble Opener Hairstyle

A reader noticed that the hairstyle of the Celestial Dragons resembled the top of a banana and Oda took notice of this.

Oda does give the hairstyle a name, which is a “noble opener”, as it looks more like a wine opener.

How Jinbe Brushes His Teeth

Someone asked how Jinbe brushes his teeth and Oda revealed that Jinbe uses a scrubbing brush but only brushes his big fangs with it.

Once a week, Jinbe also sheds his old teeth to regrow new ones since he is a shark fishman.

This means Jinbe does not need milk to regrow his teeth.

Gear 5 Paper

To end the SBS in a funny way, a reader invokes Gear 5 with the “Dawn Paper” attack, which Oda reveals will erase the paper’s contents and make it blank.
