Will Denji and Yoru End Up Together? Chainsaw Man Chapter 192 Review!
Bringing up Denji’s deal with Power could mean that Chainsaw Man will be bringing back some dead characters as completely different people.

In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, Yoru reveals herself to Denji and prepares to shoot Yoshida with the Gun Devil arm.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 192 is titled, “How Devils Play”
This chapter has 15 pages.
The chapter reveals what Yoru intended to do by misdirecting Yoshida and instead breaks the wall next to him so that she and Denji could get away.
Yoru would spot a civilian mistaking Denji for a Pseudo-Chainsaw Man but Yoru kills the person, much to Denji’s horror.
To stop Yoru from killing people, Denji suggests that they go somewhere to eat.
When they see the ManMan Chinese restaurant, they spot that the place is in ruins and Yoru kills the manager to steal the frozen potstickers for them to cook.
This is another sign that, at least for Japan, the apocalypse has come and fewer and fewer places are safe and stable.
ManMan is actually a mythology reference as they are birds with one eye and one eye that can only fly if they attach to each other and fly together.
This fits Yoru to a tee due to her weakened form being a bird and she cannot survive without her host Asa, who was dying and needed Yoru’s possession to survive.
This could also be part of the theme for this chapter as Yoru and Denji need each other because of their mutual loneliness and even of the relationship between devils and humans.
Humans cannot survive against devils without devil contracts or helpful devils and devils need human fear and blood to survive.
On top of the building, staring at the chaos, Yoru and Denji feast on dumplings.
The scenery seems to show the buildings on fire, which could represent the Fire Devil’s literal power or yet another metaphorical representation of the “fire” that the Fire Devil stokes in the Chainsaw Man Church lighting those fires.
Yoru does respond to Denji’s question, saying that they will meet with the Fire Devil once the Death Devil arrive since high-ranking devils come to greet her.
Is it possible the Fire Devil is a Primal Fear and that is why we had yet to truly deal with it?
Power and Makima’s Returns?
Hearing this, Denji wonders if the new Control Devil will also be here but as we know, reincarnated Devils who return from Hell will not be the same person.
However, Denji did make a contract with the Blood Devil in Chapter 91: “Power, Power, Power”, that in exchange for Power’s blood to nourish him, he would befriend the reincarnated Blood Devil and “turn her back into Power.”
It is a shame there was no same contract with the Control Devil, considering what happened in the finale of Part 1.
However, the returns of both the Control and Blood Devil have been constantly mentioned.
With the Death Devil’s Advent, will we see them greet her?
Considering that the Control Devil is also a Horseman of the Apocalypse and humans right now are both desiring and fearing control more than ever, we will definitely see the third known Incarnation of the Control Devil.
Blood being a fundamental part of life and loss means that the Blood Devil could return.
The final arc will be more developed as Denji will not only face off against the Death Devil and potentially suffer an even greater hell than losing his home, dogs and adopted sister, but also the two women in his life that have come in a different form.
He will fight Nayuta and Power again for the slim hope that they could return.
Considering the nature of Devil Contracts, it is more likely to see Power return but it is also possible that it will be quite hard.
With the Control Devil, this is quite conflicting as in a way, Nayuta is the Makima that truly loved Denji but in a reincarnated form and especially being “born” upon the Death Devil’s advent, she might be more Makima, the tool of the system who seeks order, than Denji’s sister.
Denji still misses Power, saying that while she was a jerk, he had fun with her.
Thinking of all the people he lost, Denji realizes the only people who were really friends with Denji are the two ladies stuck in one teenaged body.
Yoru asks Denji if this implies that in spite of her intentions of turning Denji into a weapon, Denji did have fun with her, which Denji agrees with.
The chapter ends with Yoru suddenly sitting on a flustered Denji’s lap, cheekily asking him if he finds this fun as well.
Is Fujimoto Still Respecting the Story’s Intent?
This chapter once again brings back the old debate about whether or not Fujimoto is respecting the story intent when it comes to Denji’s dignity.
Throughout the recent chapters, Denji’s victimization has reached all new highs, as we are not only repeating the cycle of Denji losing his home and family, which is par for the course and appropriate, but now we are seeing Denji repeating experiencing his consent and dignity being played around.
This is especially disturbing now that Denji has truly lost all his connections and the only meaningful bond he has is with a mentally exhausted Asa and a questionable and flirty Yoru.
Yoru is another Makima for Denji, a beautiful dominant female who exploits him.
However, we are clearly seeing her change and she is expressing genuine feelings for him.
The problem is that this is the same for Makima, albeit mostly directed at Pochita.
Here, Yoru is after the same Chainsaw Heart but at the same time, she feels more pity towards Denji than Makima ever expressed.
Makima has genuine emotions and an incomprehensible loneliness, both things Yoru experiences as a Devil feeling alone among humans.
But now we are seeing that love process in a relationship between Yoru and Denji.
Once again, Yoru does treat Denji as a pet but in isolation, will it go beyond that?
Will Yoru finally let go of the facade and at least respect Denji’s dignity enough?
This is clearly wishful thinking since the world is heading for its end.
Unlike Part 1, Part 2’s danger is much more significant and makes every human and Devil feel miniscule in comparison.
If Yoru humanizes in the story, this creates problems, both for Yoru and the story.
She will feel immense guilt once she does turn Denji into a weapon to save the world.
She wants the world around so wars and conflicts can validate her existence but Yoru would finally feel true loss, even more than turning her adopted children into literal arms.
This is great character building.
However, will this also have the unintended effect of validating the attraction towards questionable dominant females and even make some fans think Denji wanted to be victimized by any of the women in the series?
It is fun to explore this controversial area but mindfulness is often key when consuming media.
The Fire Punch Pattern
As we are now entering potentially the penultimate arc before the finale, we might be following a classic Fujimoto pattern established since his 2016 work, Fire Punch.
Fire Punch is a short, 83-chapter story divided into four arcs, which represent four stages in the protagonist Agni’s life.
There are spoilers here but it is worth noting that the post-apocalyptic cold world of Fire Punch has a similar storytelling approach to Chainsaw Man, just more drastic and nihilistic.
In the first arc, Agni starts as an empty, purposeless avenger for the death of his sister Luna and is civilized by a person (Togata) to become a hero in their film and ends the story by not only destroying the main antagonist city, Behemdorg,
In the second arc, Agni becomes the god of a cult centered around him but would soon give into murderous rage to kill Doma, the man who killed his sister, even after seeing him change for the better, ending with Agni freeing Judah, his sister’s doppleganger, from a tree designed to warm the cold world.
In the third arc, the status quo resets literally as Agni has left his past life and convinces the amnesiac Judah that she is his sister Luna.
In the fourth arc, Agni’s old cult would be taken over by Sun, a child he rescued, and he faces off against the very cult that worshipped him
You see a similarity?
The Chainsaw Man Church was centered around him yet also despises him.
Although Barem’s villainy seems to be done with, the Chainsaw Man Church is still going strong, potentially with some of its older leaders escaping.
Maybe Katana Man could join them and try to turn Denji into a monster.
Yoru may have the freedom of a Devil but her own survival is at stake if the Chainsaw Man Church and Public Safety will bring Asa’s body to further harm and with the Death Devil, she might not even have a place at all unless she fights and usurps her eldest sister.
However, An Arc Is Still There For Yoru
Yoru’s whole goal was to weaponize Denji and Yoshida counted on that mutual accord yet now it seems she has delayed the process for far, far too long.
Ironically, she also saw that humans, who are about manipulation, are trying to weaponize her to weaponize Denji for their own survival.
Humanity is pushed to where morals are out the window and so the selfishness of these two is seen as an insult to the struggle, a denial of reality, and a refusal to care.
Yet this rebellion, of not caring about others’ plans and simply living in the moment, the core of Chainsaw Man, is also an affirmation of their dignity as individuals.
