Every Unresolved Plotline in Black Clover So Far

With Black Clover in its climax, let us look into the plotlines that have yet to be resolved.

As Black Clover nears its climax with the final battle against Lucius starting, let us look at the unresolved plotlines of the series and whether or not they could fit in to the remaining volumes.

Adramelech

One of the most random elements of the devils plotline is the “useless” character of Adramelech.

All he has done is watch

He might end up becoming the Black Zetsu of Black Clover as the casual participant and that would be quite bad if written without proper setup like it happened in Naruto.

He did betray Lucifero, who manifested with only half of his body, by giving his heart to Lucius Zogratis.

However, as he did, he also spared an unconscious Asta’s life when he had a chance to kill him.

Considering Lucius would later make Asta his first target and view him as the flaw of the world, it is strange Adramelech did not end this obstacle, especially with current events showing how disruptive Asta is to Lucius’ plan.

What deal did those two even make?

The problem now, however, is that we have seen plenty of villains and we already have a double-crossing devil manipulator in the form of Zagred and he was great, having been woven so seamlessly into the Elf Reincarnation plotline.

Adramelech, meanwhile, feels like an empty space or a redundant character even, serving only as an assistant.

We can glean from his origins for a clue.

With only a one-off mention in the Book of Kings, Adramelech was somewhat associated with the Assyrian pantheon and would take on a new character in demonology as an assistant-type demon.

Notably, he is worshipped alongside the moon deity, Anammelech, and is thus a pagan sun god, which could mean that Adramelech uses Sun Magic or some sort of Light Magic.

His chibi form would be deceptive as he might actually have a more beautiful or grotesque form to take on, assuming he does betray Lucius.

The question is: will this leave a more satisfying taste for Black Clover fans than the way Black Zetsu upsetted Naruto fans?

Lucifero’s Full Power

Speaking of Lucifero, we have some unmet expectations about the King of Devils.

Lucius has both halves of Lucifero’s heart and power and yet he has not displayed Lucifero’s Gravity Magic at its fullest strength.

Dante used his abilities and Lucifero was able to use the same spells to make so many Magic Knights kneel down yet he was defeated swiftly.

We do not know if a full power Lucifero would be able to match Asta and Yuno at their current levels since half of Lucifero in the Underworld was helpless against Lucius, or rather his devil Astaroth’s Time Magic.

Add to that, imagine if Lucifero had a 5-leaf Grimoire like Zagred, the mastermind of the Elf Saga, and could go even more all out, assuming that grimoire would stack with the opening of Qliphoth.

Asta’s Father

Ah yes, the legendary missing father, still in existence since My Hero Academia popped the question in the very first chapter.

Since My Hero Academia never gave Deku’s family that resolution, perhaps Horikoshi’s close friend could end the series with a mention of the father.

While it is believable than Licita is just a single mother and the father is never important, maybe Tabata could reveal a little something about the man before we move on with the series.

The Earth Spirit

Throughout the series, we have encountered the elemental spirits, from Yuno’s Wind Spirit Slyph (Bell) to Fana and eventually Fuegoleon’s Fire Spirit Salamander and Lolopechka’s Water Spirit Undine.

Yet we are now in the Final Arc and there is no word of an Earth Spirit.

If Tabata does remember that there is an Earth Spirit, since he established that there are four Magic Elements, then this Spirit might be key to Lucius’ defeat in some way.

We have only some form of payoff with Charmy being half-dwarf during the Elf Arc in her fight against Rill

Dwarves and Charmy’s Backstory

Speaking of Charmy, every Black Bull member has their own backstory except for Charmy, one of the more positive and comedic figures in the series.

All we know is that Yami met her while she was caught in a trap but there is no context as to how she got there, unlike most of the Black Bulls.

We do learn during the Elf arc that Charmy is in fact a descendant of the dwarves.

Could the Earth Spirit’s introduction reveal more about Charmy or will we just move on with Asta, Yuno and their fight with Lucius to wrap up the entire series?

Political Consequences of the Clover Kingdom Class System

A major theme in Black Clover is class conflict that is based on magical ability, where those with lesser magic are condemned to poverty and servitude while those with much power enjoy privileges and maintain that status quo for the sake of control.

The Black Bulls have continued to disprove the stereotype, especially with Asta being responsible for saving three of the four Kingdoms from annihilation and Lucius would be the perfect final test, both to prove Lucius wrong and Asta to be a hero, maybe even the Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, the first without any magic.

Since it appears that the Clover Kingdom is the only relevant kingdom to practice magic classism with the Heart Kingdom being more attuned to nature,  the Spade Kingdom reformed, and Diamond Kingdom defunct, it could mean the entire continent would be altered politically.

That is if Tabata is aware or bothers with such matters.

If by the end of the story, there is no political reform and Asta is chill with the classism, Black Clover’s themes would have been lost quite thoroughly here.

How Did Bell and the Demon Dweller Sword end up in the Dungeon?

One lingering question is how the scroll for the Wind Spirit Sylph or Bell and the Demon Dweller Sword belonging to Licht end in up in the same random dungeon.

Although doubtful to even matter in the finale, Bell and the Demon Dweller Sword are still key components to the final battle.

Perhaps subtlety can be the rule here and we are led to think that some surviving elves, like one of Licht’s twins, found the Sword lying around and placed it in a dungeon for safe-keeping.

The scroll unlocking Bell for Yuno’s Grimoire could be more random, unless there is more plot significance.

On a side note, the reincarnated Fana acquired possession of the Fire Spirit Salamander, meaning two of the three known Elemental Spirits were held by spirit hosts who had Elven ties.
