On Sunday, during a screening event for the second season of Baki Hanma in Tokyo, it was announced that an anime adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki’s first Baki-Dou manga will be going into production.

A PV has been released as well.

Itagaki’s initial martial arts manga, “Baki The Grappler,” was serialized for 42 volumes in Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine from 1991 to 1999.

The manga has over 63 million copies in print. The sequel to Baki spanned 31 volumes from 1999 to 2005. Media Do publishes the manga in English.

Following “Baki,” Itagaki released the 37-volume “Hanma Baki” manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 2005 to 2012.

The inaugural “Baki-Dou” manga, constituting the fourth installment in the series, commenced serialization in Weekly Shōnen Champion in March 2014 and concluded in April 2018 after 22 volumes.

Baki Hanma is a sequel to Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen and the third Baki series on Netflix.

The first season of the series aired worldwide on Netflix in September 2021.

Keisuke Itagaki is also starting a new series for his Baki manga in the 39th issue on August 24.

Netflix describes the anime as:

The story finally unfolds into a full-blooded clash between Baki Hanma and his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as the “strongest creature on earth.”

The climax of the Baki universe, which depicted the “strongest parent-child brawl in the history of the world” in the original manga, has been adapted into the long-awaited anime!
