One Piece fans are about to receive a MASSIVE change of their viewing experience.

On October 13, 2024, at 9PM Japan Time, the official One Piece Youtube channel has announced that the One Piece Egghead Island Arc anime will be on break until April 2025.

This is done to “achieve even higher quality” for the remainder of the Egghead Island Arc.

Toei, the studio that handles the One Piece anime, has handled a weekly release schedule for the anime instead of a seasonal release that has become the norm as of late.

More information on the anime’s release schedule will be provided at Jump Festa 2024 that will be held this December.16 to 17, 2024.

To fill up the void in the broadcast, a “One Piece Special Edited Version” will be broadcast on October 27, 2024, after the release of the One Piece Fan Letter short film by Megumi Ishitani (director of Episodes 957, 982 and 1015).

This will be a special edition of the Fishman Island arc, which will be condensed into 21 episodes instead the original 57 episodes.

The remaster is NOT to be confused with the planned Studio WIT Remake “The One Piece”, which is set to cover the East Blue Saga at first.

This special edition uses the latest technology to reshoot the entire Fishman Island Arc, with the lines becoming more delicate, and lighting and shadow work enhanced to give off a three-dimensional effect.

The remaster will contain some additional new soundtracks and a surround sound effect that has yet to be seen in the Toei adaptation, courtesy of Dolby Atmos

This surround sound effect can be heard while streaming the One Piece anime from the comfort of one’s home.

The episode previews will also be original, meaning there will be new dialogue and scenes (or scene choices) in the previews as well.

The opening for the Remaster is “We Go – Straw Hat Crew Version”, which will be sung by the voice cast playing the Straw Hat Pirates.

Meanwhile, the ending song will be “Sailing” by BE:FIRST, a new song. You can listen to the track on the announcement video at the 9:40 mark.

Additionally, on the One Piece official Youtube channel, all episodes will be streaming for 24 hours straight that will be extended until March 2025.
