Bleach: Rebirth of Souls Gameplay Showcased in Krew BeInside

Bleach games are now completely different from what they used to be.

Bleach games did not always get this level of attention to detail but Rebirth of Souls has elevated the quality more than tenfold.

During the Krew BeInside event on September 8, the full gameplay of the new game, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls was shown through a fight between Yoruichi and Ichigo by some professional players, which was recorded prior to the event as part of the demonstration.

During the episode, there was also a tournament between Kubo and Masakazu Morita (voice actor of Bleach protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki), with Kubo himself playing as Yoruichi,

Kubo cites her as his favorite character to play because of her easygoing nature, not caring about what people think of her.

A review of the gameplay shows the various mechanics, including shielding, kido, Shikai, Bankai techniques, Reishi footholds mid-air, and the use of Shunpo, especially for appearing behind the opponent.

Many of these mechanics, such as the shielding and teleportation, require the use of the Reverse bar, which fills up throughout the fight through combo attacks but will readily deplete when using any of these, especially the shield burst.

The use of Reishi footholds mid-air, Shunpo (Flash Step) and getting behind opponents adds more diversity to movements, whether to dodge attacks or to improve one’s attack.

The shields are a defensive burst to shove away opponents and damage them.

The Reverse Bar also works like a super meter for special attacks but that has yet to be specified.

The game also comes with ten to eleven total maps, with three maps added during the event. During previous showings, there were around seven maps and more are expected to appear in the future.

There have already been trailers for multiple characters, such as Byakuya Kuchiki, Kisuke Urahara and, after the Krew BeInside event, Rangiku Matsumoto.

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls will be available on Steam and can be used on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox.

No launch date has been confirmed.

About Bleach

Bleach is the manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo, serializing from 2001 to 2016 at Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Amassing over 74 volumes over its 15 year run, Bleach has sold over 130 million copies.

Alongside its anime adaptation that began in 2004, there have also been a number of games released, such as the 2015 game Bleach: Brave Souls, which gave us the first preview of the voice actors for the Sternitters, Yhwach (who shares the voice of Ichigo’s Zanpakuto “Old Man Zangetsu”) and characters from non-Kubo novels such as Can’t Fear Your Own World.
