On December 5, 2024, Bleach author Tite Kubo sits down with the animation team of Pierrot and revealed storyboards that made the team excited for the upcoming Cour 4 of the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War.

The staff were excited by the “new name” that was revealed.

The term “new name” could mean anything from a new concept (such as an ability or event), character, plot detail, or new episode so it is not known exactly what this really means.

Later on December 16, 2024, Tite Kubo would appear in a livestream where he directly confirmed that there will be never before seen content for the final stretch of the Thousand Year Blood War anime.

Kubo says: “In the 4th cour, there will be entire episodes where people might be like, ‘I’ve never seen this!'”

This has actually happened in the form of Episode 33: “Gate of the Sun” with most of the episode taken up by Uryu vs Renji, an anime-original fight, so it is possible that we will see a full, anime-original episode within Cour 4.

This shows that although Kubo did plan to end the manga when it did, there was a point where Kubo wanted to expand the story further and the anime seems to be the way to realize that old thought.

The remaining content for Cour 4 from the manga will be the fights against Askin Naak Le Varr, Gerard Valkyrie, Jugram Haschwalth and the final battles against Yhwach himself. spanning less than 40 chapters.

Similar to Cour 1, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cour 3 will end in an hour-long special on December 28, 2024.
