Bocchi the Rock Season 2 FINALLY Announced
Bocchi the Rock makes a grand return for an upcoming second season.
On February 15, 2025, it was announced that Bocchi the Rock will return for a second season nearly 5 years after the release of Season 1 that ran from October to December 2021.
Cloverworks (Wind Breaker) will continue to produce the series.
However, there will be a change in directors. Season 1 was directed by Keiichiro Saitou, who also directed Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Replacing him is Yamamoto Yuusuke, who has directed Episodes 3 and 11 of the Bocchi anime, as well as directed Opening 1: Idol of Oshi no Ko Season 1.
The anime has garnered much praise for its superb and surprising animation quality, comedic timing and attention to detail.
Bocchi the Rock would notably earn a record, as its first compilation film was the first of its kind to top the box office in Japan, earnings up to 218 million yen (approximately $ 1.39 million).
About Bocchi the Rock
Bocchi the Rock is a four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Aki Hamazi, and has been serialized in Houbunsha’s seinen magazine, Manga Time Kirara Max, since December 19, 2017.
As of October 2024, there have been 7 tankobon volumes collected.
The series has over 3 million sales by January 2024.
Bocchi the Rock is the story of an anxious, socially awkward girl named Hitori Gotō who wants to become a rock musician and make friends. Together with Nijika Ijichi, they form the Kessoku Band.
