Chapter 169 confirms that Nayuta is still alive but kept as a hostage by the Chainsaw Man church. Why? Because they wanted Denji to continue being Chainsaw Man and kill Asa Mitaka against his will!

Barem Bridge, the 2nd in command at the Church, is a devil-human hybrid that merged with the Flamethrower Devil. His goal is to continue Makima’s legacy by ruining Denji’s life while working with Fami to prevent the Death Devil from destroying all of mankind.
Fami works with Yoru in order to achieve it but Asa obviously hesitates as she’s with Denji.
Both she and him are currently working together to save Nayuta from the church, and now that Barem has shown up, it’ll definitely lead to a showdown between Chainsaw Man and the Flamethrower Devil hybrid.
