Within just a week of Devil May Cry’s animated release on Netflix, we got confirmation that the badass Dante will make a return for Season 2 to continue the new story set by Adi Shankar.

Adi Shankar’s Castlevania adaptation also got a Season 2 in less than a month, so it was expected for Devil May Cry to follow suit.

Season 1 of the adaptation received positive reviews from critics, gaining an approval rating of 95%, based on 22 reviews with an average score of 7.7/10.

However, audiences were somewhat mixed due to the changes in the story, especially the characterization of Dante, Lady, Vergil and even the demon race being an allegory for oppressed sectors in the real world.

About Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry is a science-fantasy action-adventure video game franchise created by Hideki Kamiya and primarily developed and published by Capcom.

The franchise primarily consists of 5 main games and the 2013 reboot, DMC: Devil May Cry by Ninja Theory.

Prior to the Netflix series, a 12-episode anime series produced by Madhouse (Hunter x Hunter 2011, Death Note) came to being from June 14, 2007 to September 6, 2007

The 2025 animation series, produced by Studio Mir, is a loose adaptation set around the time of Devil May Cry 3, the prequel to the first two games.

The story centers around Dante, a demon hunter who is the son of Sparda, a noble demon knight, as he combats various waves of demon invasions. He often clashes with his twin brother, Vergil and his pursuit of power.
