Since July 5, 2019, Dr. Stone has sparked the imagination and excitement of its audience with how the protagonist Senku Ishigami revives modern technology in a stone age. From the light bulb to the automobile, Senku has brought the most important discoveries of humanity back from extinction and into the new Stone Age.

At the 2024 Stone Festival held in Japan on August 11, the official Dr. Stone anime series accounts announced that season 4 will premiere in 2025 with the official name, Dr. Stone: Science Future”. This is also confirmed to be the final season of the show.

Along with the year of release, a key visual was released, showing Senku with his child self staring at the moon, hinting towards the final frontier of the series.

Dr. Stone’s episode structure has always been strange  though. A cour usually has 12-13 episodes. Season 1 had 24 episodes split into two cours, Season 2 had 11 episodes for a one-cour season, a special episode Dr Stone: Ryusui, and Season 3 with 22 episodes divided into two cours.

Season 4 will be divided into three cours. Whether this means each cour will have 11 or 12 episodes is up in the air. However, this will cover the final saga of the manga, spanning 70 chapters (from Chapter 142 to 212).

Dr. Stone is a science fiction manga written by Riichiro Inagaki, illustrated by Boichi, and published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022. The manga is set 5,700 years after the modern world was petrified by a mysterious phenomenon. The first human to awaken was Senku, a science-driven high-schooler, who uncovers the secret to reviving humans into the new Stone Age and speedruns two millions years of technological development in a few short years.
