Dragon Ball Fans Criticize Toei Animation, Claiming They Prioritize One Piece 25th Anniversary Over Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary And Promo For Daima
Nevertheless, fights between fandoms will never cease to exist as long as obsessive fans and keyboard warriors continue to thrive on social media.
While One Piece fans applaud Toei Animation for its impeccable marketing strategies to promote the anime and celebrate its 25th anniversary by making the series appear on the Las Vegas Sphere in June 2024, Dragon Ball fans, however, are not happy with the studio over the treatment of their series because they feel Toei isn’t promoting Dragon Ball Daima or the 40th Anniversary celebrations well!
This has been a recurring problem for the Dragon Ball franchise ever since the Dragon Ball Super anime ended in 2018 and with that, Toei seems to have switched their priority to the One Piece anime, even taking the staff members from Super to there.
Dragon Ball Daima is supposed to be Akira Toriyama’s unfinished final project and fans believe that the news of his passing has generated more anticipation for the upcoming anime than Toei Animation’s own promotional efforts.
So far, Toei has only revealed 2-3 trailers for Daima and recently uploaded a key visual, with renders that were already used in previous promotional materials.
As a result, numerous Dragon Ball enthusiasts quote-tweeted Toei’s original announcement about the Las Vegas Sphere experience, urging the studio to ramp up promotion efforts for Dragon Ball Daima and the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration, which they feel has been lacking thus far.
Is it wrong that I genuinely think Toriyamas death has done more to promote Daima than toei? It makes me sick honestly.😞 https://t.co/4KxnCVoIQ0

I mean no disrespect to Toriyama, but his death has convinced more people to look forward to DAIMA than Toei ever could have with their marketing.
"Toriyama's last project before he died" is doing the thing that Toei should have done for the show. Very disappointing. https://t.co/jUxaQ5zKrH

Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary is on November 20th, there is still almost 6 months to go so maybe they have something planned and don't want to Reveal it Early but for Daima they should definitely do something, doesn't have to be a promotion! maybe a character sheet?! https://t.co/k9lQW0dXue

I think Toei giving up on DB
Db super super heroes and Daima barely have any marketingI'm happy one piece finally getting marketing but also treat dragon ball the same as way
we got 0 announcement on the db super anime coming back
They have enough manga content to adapt https://t.co/HzUsTmZ71s— VASH ART| C0MM OPEN(0/3)💚🔞 (@VASH_ART1) May 20, 2024
One Piece fans, however, were quick to point out to Dragon Ball fans that they literally had a Theme Park announced to be built in Saudi Arabia, so they shouldn’t be salty about One Piece getting the attention it deserves, especially when they’re swarming around a One Piece-related tweet.
Nevertheless, fights between fandoms will never cease to exist as long as die-hard-obsessive fans and keyboard warriors continue to thrive on social media.
About Dragon Ball:
Dragon Ball is a manga series by Akira Toriyama. It first began its serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1984.
The manga was later adapted into a multitude of animated series, movies, and games.
The franchise consists of five different anime series, about 21 animated movies, and around 10 games spanning various platforms, from Famicon to Playstation and Xbox.
Synopsis of the Dragon Ball anime:
The story of Dragon Ball follows the life of Son Goku, a monkey-tailed boy loosely based on the traditional Chinese folk tale Journey to the West, from his life and adventures as a child all the way up to being a grandfather.
During his life, he fights many battles and eventually becomes (arguably) the strongest martial artist in the universe. He is not without help, however: the comic boasts a large ensemble cast of martial artist heroes and villains which provide the conflict that drives the story.
About One Piece:
One Piece manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 1997, with its individual chapters compiled into 108 tankōbon volumes as of March 2024.
The manga spawned a media franchise, having been adapted into a festival film by Production I.G, and an anime series by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in 1999. Additionally, Toei has developed fourteen animated feature films, one original video animation, and thirteen television specials.
The latest entry in the franchise, One Piece Film Red, premiered in Japan in August 2022. It is the 8th highest-earning film of all time in Japan and also topped Japan’s box office for the year 2022 in terms of both yen earned and tickets sold.
One Piece Anime Synopsis:
The tale of One Piece takes place on a parallel Earth when the ‘Golden Age of Pirates’ is in full swing.
The seas are ruled by ruthless pirates, and only the strongest can claim the legendary ‘One Piece’ fortune left behind by the greatest pirate of them, Gol D. Roger.
Years after Gol D. Roger’s death, Monkey D. Luffy dreams of establishing his own crew, locating One Piece, and becoming the Pirate King.
Luffy has incredible strength and agility after eating a devil’s fruit that turns his body into rubber.
He leaves Foosha Village in East Blue on his epic expedition to become the next Pirate King.
