Former Bandai Namco Employee Prosecuted For Stealing Merchandise Worth 87 Million Yen
On August 20, the said employee was terminated.
On August 24, 2023, Bandai Namco Holding Inc. reported that a former employee of Namco Bandai Business Arc, a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holding committed fraud.
The company submitted a damage report to the police on the same day. On August 20, the said employee was terminated.
The company shared that, after receiving information from outside, it has been investigating a suspected unauthorized leakage of merchandise at Bandai since June.
Bandai discovered a person who entered the company’s storage facility illegally for merchandise scheduled for disposal and took out such merchandise.
In response, after consulting with the police, the company established an internal investigation committee.
As a result of the investigation, the company announced that the employee in question has been selling them to outside vendors over a period of approximately eight years, from 2015 to 2023.
The company stated that it will completely cooperate with the investigation by the authorities to pursue not only civil but also criminal charges for the illegal gain of approximately 87 million yen (around 582,637 USD).
