Golden Kamuy Live-Action Movie Sequel Announced
Golden Kamuy’s successful first film this year has enabled the production of a sequel movie coming soon.
On December 1, 2024, a new Golden Kamuy live-action movie is announced on the Switch Magazine

The success of the first live-action adaptation of Golden Kamuy movie has encouraged the creation of a sequel that will continue the story where it left off.
Released in theaters in January and later on Netflix in, the film top the box office in its opening week, selling 356,000 tickets for 533,848,690 yen (about US$3.69 million)Â and was an online hit for the most part.
The film was an adaptation of the Golden Kamuy manga by Satoru Noda that released from 2014 to 2022 in Weekly Young Jump.
Prior to the live-action adaptation, Golden Kamuy was adapted into an anime in 2018 and currently has four seasons, with a fifth and final season coming at an unspecified date.
The first Golden Kamuy movie covcrs the first three arcs, where the three main characters Saichi Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Yoshitake Shiraishi all meet up and begin their hunt for the 24 Abashiri Convicts that possess the tattooed skins containing the map to the Ainu gold. On this journey, they encounter and tyr to get away from the villainous 7th Division Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi, who is also after the skins.
The sequel will likely continue by following three new Abashiri convicts: the legendary hunter, Tetsuzou Nihei, the serial killer, Kazuo Henmi, and the hotel killer Kano Ienaga, their stories spanning over 30 chapters.
