Hunter x Hunter returns after a nearly 2-year hiatus

Yoshihiro Togashi continues the grind towards the Succession War Arc!

Hunter x Hunter will return this October 7th, along with the release of Volume 38. Starting from Issue #45 of Weekly Shonen Jump, we will be getting Chapter 401 until 410 to wrap up a whole volume’s worth of content.

Volume 38 will contain chapters 391 to 400, originally released in individual issues on November 2022. The cover shows Gon Freecss, the protagonist of Hunter x Hunter, with the volume number (38) on his white outfit. Notably, Gon has not appeared since his last appearance in Chapter 45, released on June 30, 2014, over a decade ago.

Hunter x Hunter has been through multiple hiatuses in which Togashi announces that he would do a volume set, consisting of ten chapters, and then leave, only to return with another ten chapters. 

Recently on his Twitter account, Togashi has expressed concerns for his back, a recurring problem that has been noted to be the primary cause of his multiple breaks over the years. The longest hiatus on record . Since 2022, Togashi has used his Twitter account to show the progress of his work. As of writing this, Togashi has begun wrok on Chapter 418.

Hunter x Hunter is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, having been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 1998. Hunter x Hunter tells the story of Gon Freecss, a boy with a fishing pool, who leaves his home of Whale Island to become a Hunter in order to find his father, a legendary Hunter named Ging. Since 2008, Togashi has undergone multiple breaks, leading to irregular releases of the series.
