Is a Bleach Remake Happening?
Bleach fans are living in the best timeline after all.
There has been a growing trend of anime remakes in the 2020s, from the anime remake of Spice and Wolf and Ruruoni Kenshin to the successful live-action One Piece.
Naruto has also been in the conversation for a remake after witnessing the “Road to Naruto” PV released by Jump in October 2022.
Now Bleach lands itself in such a discourse the same way Naruto did.
For the 20th anniversary of the Bleach anime and the release of the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Arc, Studio Pierrot has released a 20th anniversary PV.
As time ticks down, we see the events of the Agent of the Shinigami arc play out from the perspective of Rukia Kuchiki while Number One plays.
First we see Ichigo defeating Fishbone D, having just acquired Shinigami powers from Rukia, Rukia hiding behind Ichigo’s closet as he speaks with his sisters, Ichigo fighting Grand Fisher, then losing to Byakuya Kuchiki and Rukia being taken away for execution by the Soul Society.
We also see flashes of Ichigo’s invasion of Soul Society, from his fight against Kenpachi Zaraki to his skirmish with Byakuya Kuchiki
Eventually, Ichigo rescues Rukia and the scene shifts to Ichigo and his friends’ infiltration of Las Noches in Hueco Mundo.
We see Ichigo fight against Grimmjow and Ulquiorra, then return to Karakura Town to face off against Sosuke Aizen’ and it ends with Ichigo’s fight against Kugo Ginjo, where he lands near the lamppost where he started, taking on his original Shinigami form while Rukia witnesses his growth, with forms such as his Hollowified form, Dangai form and eventually his current true Shinigami form.
The credits show the images of Ichigo’s foes: Yhwach, Ulquiorra, Grimmjow, Aizen, Ginjo, and Byakuya.
Fans in the comments have expressed how the trailer reflects the fandom’s wish for a full-blown remake with more updated animation.
