Jujutsu Kaisen Author Hints New Manga In Final Volume Message
Jujutsu Kaisen’s final two volumes contain some surprising updates that recontextualized the entire series
On December 25, 2024, Jujutsu Kaisen Volumes 29 and 30 have been released to Japan, with some new content including a full chapter epilogue for four characters, some extra pages and redraws for Volume 29 and messages from Gege Akutami himself.
At the end of Volume 30, Gege Akutami left a comment that indicated his return to the manga industry very soon.
“Someday. We’ll meet again.”

New Illustrations
Within Volume 29, there have been numerous colored illustrations added for Choso, Nanami Kento, and Satoru Gojo.

We also have an illustration of Yuji and Sukuna (in Yuji’s body) dancing, which could be tied to Chapter 265, where the two were inside Yuji’s domain.

This illustration would replace the main Sukuna teaser billboard for Volumes 29 and 30 in Shibuya.
Volume 29 Additions
Uraume is the back illustration of Volume 29, which has Heian Sukuna on the cover, showing that they were at the core of Sukuna’s inner humanity.
Uraume would also have another illustration, this time as a youth, with a snow flake behind them.
Chapter 259 received four extra pages, which we covered here
There are numerous sketches for volume 29, such as for Miwa and one showing Gojo on wooden legs, towering over all his students.
This could be a reference to Yuta’s remark when using Gojo’s body in Chapter 262.
Sukuna Sketches
This volume features a major twist on Sukuna’s twin soul in an illustration that “clarifies” who exactly was once Sukuna’s twin, which we also cover here.
It was Wasuke, not Jin Itadori, who had the twin Sukuna soul.
Another Sukuna illustration confirms that the “earring-like” structure around Sukuna’s right neck and ear is not an accessory but deformed bones sticking out, which Sukuna remarks are itchy.
This is yet another demonstration of how Sukuna’s body is actually ill and deformed.
Perhaps another reason for him to eat humans and reincarnate as a different being in the modern world, to escape that cursed feeling.
Inspiration for Todo
Akutami asks if anyone knows the person he is sketching here.
Many fans have answered that it might be Jun itoda. a Japanese comedian who used vibra slap in one of his gigs, which might have inspired Akutami to have Todo use a vibra slap for his new Boogie Woogie.
Once again, we are seeing Akutami’s niche interests at play and note that a comedian is responsible for the death of the other main villain, Kenjaku.
We also get a sketch of Todo in volume 29 extra page, where he is asked about why he chose to re-wrap his bandages after Yuta intervened in Takaba’s fight against Kenjaku but Todo chooses to keep it a secret/
Volume 30 Additions
The back illustration of Volume 30 features Megumi Fushiguro, the person Yuji saves from Sukuna’s possession.
Another extra illustration is that of young Yuji from Chapter 265: “That Day”, the chapter where Sukuna and Yuji enter the latter’s domain and Yuji brings up about his childhood and his belief that Santa Claus was real.
Chapter 265 Slight Change
Speaking of, Chapter 265 had one line of revised dialogue
In the old, weekly release, Sukuna told Yuji:Â “So you had no brains even from then”
In the new, volume release, Sukuna told Yuji:Â “As expected, there is no medicine for being stupid”

Hana and Angel’s Outfit
There is also a new sketch of Hana Kurusu/Angel in the volume 30 extras showing us the steps of how Kurusu wears her sweater.
She rolls down the collar and expresses how tight the outfit feels at first.
Under the sweater dress, there are shorts, tights, and boots, a combination that reminds Akutami of what was popular while the author was in middle and high school but it is not really in style these days though Akutami hopes it makes a return.
Akutami’s Favorite Restaurant
Final sketch from volume 30 extras
“There’s a restaurant called “Fudo” in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture. I used to read Kochikame, Dragon Ball, and Rurouni Kenshin there while my parents drank their evening sake.”
“This was over 20 years ago. If you’re someone who likes Jujutsu Kaisen, you might have some good luck if you go there to eat.”
The ‘Fudo’ restaurant that has an extra page dedicated to it in volume 30.
Gege recently drew a Yuji sketch with his signature in honor of it.
That sketch is now displayed outside its entrance.#JujutsuKaisen pic.twitter.com/RQcMuR5DJ5

Q&A
While Volume 29 contained no Q&A, Volume 30 did have two questions:
Q:
“Wasn’t it possible to stop Itadori’s Dismantle using Domain Amplification?”
A:
“It’s not that it couldn’t be done, but if you fail to weaken the effect of the technique even a little bit, the Domain Expansion will quickly lose its power, and in the end, you’ll still get hit by Dismantle. It’s very dangerous.”
Q:
“By the way, Todo and Kurusu’s techniques affect the cursed energy itself, so they can’t be stopped by Domain Amplication.”
A:
“Excuse accepted!!”
