On November 21, 2024, we received the key visual of Kaiju No. 8 Season 1 Special Compilation Film and Original Anime Episode “Hoshina’s Days Off”.

Both would be shown together in Japanese cinemas on March 28, 2025 for 3 weeks.

The “Hoshina’s Days Off” is an anime-original special episode dedicated to Soshiro Hoshina, one of the protagonists.

From the official Kaiju No. 8 website, the synopsis is as follows:

A day off… After spending so long training, Reno has forgotten what he’s supposed to do with free time. But when he sees that Hoshina is up to something, he goes on a mission to tail him with Iharu!

Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto for the Shōnen Jump+ app and website since July 2020.

As of November 2024, the series has reached a total of 14 volumes and has sold 15 million copies worldwide.

The story follows Kafka Hibino, a 32 year old man who ingested a parasitic creature and gained the ability to turn into a kaiju, eventually joining the Defense Force that opposes the kaiju.

Season 1 was released in 2024 produced by Production I.G. (Haikyuu, Heavenly Delusion) with monster designs by Studio Khara (Evangelion Rebuild movies) and adapted the first 38 chapters of the story.

Season 2 has also been announced for 2025.
