Live-Action Cells At Work! Movie Teaser Reveals December Debut, Unveils Main Cast

Mei Nagano will star in the film as Red Blood Cell, and Takeru Satō will star as White Blood Cell

On Tuesday, the official Twitter account for the live-action of Akane Shimizu’s Cells at Work! The manga revealed an “early teaser trailer”, announcing a December premiere and the main cast of the movie. 

Mei Nagano will star in the film as Red Blood Cell, and Takeru Satō will star as White Blood Cell. Hideki Takeuchi is directing the film, with a script by Yūichi Tokunaga. Warner Bros. Japan is distributing the film.

Shimizu launched the original Cells at Work! manga (seen right) in the March 2015 issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, and ended it in January 2021. Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English.

Kae Hashimoto launched the manga in Kodansha’s YanManga website in January 2022.

The manga also received an anime adaptation in July 2018. The second season of the anime premiered in January 2021, along with Cells at Work! Code Black spinoff manga.
