Vinland Saga continues to impress the manga community through its deeply emotional narrative.

Through a now-deleted post, Vinland Saga World twitter account shared an illustration of Thorfinn made by Vinland Saga author Makoto Yukimura, with the caption: “The final chapter is coming soon”.

Deleted tweet, from 2022 japan expo vinland

The post was deleted to avoid confusion as the illustration was originally made for Japan Expo 2022 rather than for September 3, 2024.

However, Yukimura has replied to the post on his official social media account, saying that the final chapter ” is coming soon”.

To note, Makoto Yukimura is known to directly engage the fanbase through his Twitter account, which happens to be his only social media account, a fact he laments when Brazil announces the suspension of Twitter last August 31.

During the 19th anniversary of the manga, Yukimura has given the same message, saying that the final chapter “isn’t far away”.

For the past few years, fans have speculated on when or how many chapters are going to be made in the future as Yukimura promised in 2019 that the final arc will cover over 1,000 pages. To note, Yukimura has also said that this is not a fixed amount of pages but an approximation of how many pages are left. Around this time, Vinland Saga had 166 chapters, with Chapter 166 being the conclusion of the third arc.

Yukimura has also recently expressed the difficulty of meeting up a weekly deadline like many mangaka that follow the weekly format, having either missed deadlines or chosen to take breaks for research or resting purposes.

While Yukimura has confirmed repeatedly that the final chapter is coming, a set date has not been confirmed.
