Ranma 1/2 Remake Anime Studio Revealed! New Trailer And Key Visual Reveals Oct 5 Debut!
A significant number of the initial voice actors from the original Ranma 1/2 anime will be returning to enact their original roles in the remake.
The official website for the Ranma 1/2 remake anime has revealed a lot of new information, on July 17, 2024, that fans of the old anime would certainly be excited about!
First off, the remake anime will be produced and animated by Studio MAPPA! That’s right! The studio that brought shows like Vinland Saga, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, etc. to the TV screen is also going to bring this classic romcom ecchi series to the screen once again!
Their employees will never see the light of day, won’t they?
Second, the staff members dropped a new trailer and key visual, featuring the main cast of Ranma 1/2. The remake will begin airing on Japan’s Nippon Television every Saturday starting on October 5, 2024!
It has also been decided that it will be exclusively distributed on Netflix immediately after the broadcast!

What’s more, the first set of cast and staff members have been revealed!
Konosuke Uda, who worked on ONE PIECE and DAYS, will be the director. Kimiko Ueno of “Dungeon Meshi” and “Uchitama?! Do You Know My Tama?!” will be the Series Composition, and
Hiromi Taniguchi of “Jellyfish Diner” and “Punch Line” will be the character designer.
A significant number of the initial voice actors from the original Ranma 1/2 anime will be returning to portray their respective characters in the remake. This includes Kappei Yamaguchi, who will reprise his position as the male voice of Ranma, and Megumi Hayashibara, who will reprise her role as the female voice of Ranma.
Kappei Yamaguchi’s comments:
“Woooooo! What a reward! To be able to perform ‘Ranma 1/2’ with these members again!
To all the fans who have been waiting for us, and to all the staff who gave us this chance, thank you so much. !!!! I wanted to express my joy and gratitude as soon as possible, but I can finally report! Ranma’ is my roots! I cherish every moment of playing Ranma, and my life as a voice actor begins and ends with Ranma! I’ll play the role with the determination that I’m ready to do it!”
Megumi Hayashibara’s comments:
Once upon a time, 35 years ago. When the cast was announced, I was still a newcomer, and I received fan letters complaining, “Who are you?” and “Get off the show right now!”.
About three months after the show aired, I received a lot of letters of apology saying things like, “You’re perfect,” “It’s funny,” and so on.
Now we live in the age of social media. There will be a lot of complaints and pros and cons flying around (laughs).
“Bring it on. I’ll beat you all to a pulp!” is what the red pigtails are saying in my head. “Can’t calm down…”
It’s gonna be so much fun!”
Additionally, the opening theme will be performed by ano, who performed the ending theme songs for Chainsaw Man and Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction.
“I am honored to be in charge of the opening theme for a work that is loved by so many people. I have created a song that fits the worldview of “Ranma 1/2,” so please look forward to it.”

The Ranma 1/2 remake anime was first announced by the creator, Rumiko Takahashi, on June 25, 2024.

Ranma ½ is a manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, with the chapters collected in 38 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan.
The manga has been adapted into two anime series produced by Studio Deen: Ranma ½, and Ranma ½ Nettōhen, which together were broadcast from 1989 to 1992. In addition, they released 12 OVAs and three films. In 2011, a live-action television special was produced and aired on Nippon Television.
