Sakamoto Days Anime Is OFFICIALLY REAL! New Trailer And KV Reveals Jan 2025 Debut!
The trailer showcased the main cast of the group, Taro Sakamoto, along with his two staff members, Shin Asakura and Lu Shaotang.
Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
On May 17, 2024, we posted an article about Sakamoto Days anime being a thing and it will be animated by Studio TMS Entertainment.
Today, May 27, the staff of TMS Entertainment officially confirmed the rumor and revealed a new trailer and key visual for the Sakamoto Days anime! The key visual features the main character, Taro Sakamoto (the top being his current state and the bottom was during his younger days of being a legendary hitman).
The trailer showcased the main cast of the group Taro Sakamoto along with his two staff members Shin Asakura and Lu Shaotang.
However, there’s no confirmation whether Netflix has gained the rights to distribute the anime overseas as they’ve removed Sakamoto Days from their “upcoming releases” page.
Sakamoto Days anime is set to release in January 2025.

Some fans have also shown concern about TMS animating Sakamoto Days, but the studio is well reputed for bringing series like Dr. Stone, Baki, Lupin the 3rd, Detective Conan and Undead Unluck to TV screens. So I personally think fans don’t have to worry about the animation quality.

When I first read the manga “SAKAMOTO DAYS,” I remember being excited by the powerful action scenes. With that feeling at the core of the anime “SAKAMOTO DAYS,” I hope to add the elements of “movement,” “color,” and “sound” that are unique to video to create a work with a sense of dynamism and speed.
I also hope to carefully portray Sakamoto’s character as a family-loving assassin who doesn’t kill , without forgetting the humor sprinkled throughout the original work. The entire staff is working hard on the production, so please look forward to the release!

Sakamoto Days is a manga series written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since November 2020, with its chapters collected in 16 tankōbon volumes as of April 2024. It is simultaneously published in English by Viz Media and the Manga Plus online platform.
By November 2023, the manga had over 4 million copies in circulation.
