Ever since the first teaser dropped in July 31, 2024, many fans have been eagerly awaiting the adaptation of Sakamoto Days, one of the newest big shonen manga in this decade.
On November 13, 2024, along with the key visual showing the main characters, the main trailer was finally released.
The trailer narrates how Taro Sakamoto is the most infamous assassin but then he became fat and swore not to be a killer so he would not be divorced from his wife Aoi.
Sakamoto is the owner of a convenience store with his wife and lives together with her and their daughter Hana.
We meet Shin and Lu Shaotang, who often butt heads and it compels Sakamoto to mash their heads together to stop them from bickering, as well as Heisuke, a sniper.
We see Sakamoto’s impressive skills in his job as a shopkeeper and the three youngsters join dinner in the Sakamoto residence.
However, because of his retirement from the assassin life, a bounty was put on Sakamoto’s head, worth 10 billion yen or around 64 million USD.
We see Sakamoto’s battle with Boiler, which results in Sakamoto instantaneously losing weight and reverting to his old, fitter self.
The Opening song plays, done by Vaundy (Chainsaw Man ED1, Ranking of Kings OP 2) titled “Run, SAKAMOTO”.
Here, we see various events in the first cour, such as Lu vs Obiguro, Boiled’s partner, and the introduction of Yoichi Nagumo and Order, the strongest assassins in Japan, such as Shishiba and
Osaragi.
Sakamoto Days will be a split-cour season with the first cour starting Saturday, January 11, 2025 and airing every Saturday at 23:00 JST.
