Solo Leveling Wins Astra TV Award for Best Anime of 2024
In spite of some underwhelming reception, Solo Leveling still snags the first-ever Astra Award for Best Anime.
On December 8, 2024, the Hollywood Creative Alliance (formerly the Hollywood Critics Association) announced that the anime adaptation of the hit Korean webcomic, Solo Leveling, has won in the Astra TV Awards’ new “Best Anime Series” category.

Aleks Le, the voice of protagonist Sung-Jinwoo for the English dub, accepted the award on behalf of Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Crunchyroll.
Solo Leveling was able to beat Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Blue Eye Samurai, Pluto, and, Ninja Kamui, which were the other nominees for this category.
Attack on Titan won the Astra Award for Best Streaming Animated Series of 2023 while Hayao Miyazaki was awarded the Astra Award for Best International Filmmaker, all within the same award show.
Solo Leveling is the story of a world plagued with mysterious dungeons and monsters and the hunters that stop them.
Sung-Jinwoo started out as the weakest Hunter but after sacrificing his life during a botched mission, he becomes the Player of the mysterious System, which allowed him to level up to become the strongest in the series.
Solo Leveling Season 1 first aired on January 6, 2024 and released 12 episodes.
Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow will premiere in January 2025.
