George Wada, Co-founder and President of Studio WIT, talked about the upcoming One Piece remake anime titled “The One Piece” in a recent interview on July 2, where he assured the sceptics that the remake will address the most significant issues fans had with the original anime by Toei Animation, the 4:3 format and the high number of episodes due to the slow pacing and fillers.

In response, the overall One Piece fandom, along with the sceptics, cannot wait for the remake to drop as they can finally watch their beloved series in the right aspect ratio and pacing, the way it is meant to be watched.

However, a certain Toei animator earlier expressed his concerns on Twitter, saying the remake might diminish the value of the original anime. But certain fans replying to him assured that they would never forget what Toei had and will continue to do for the franchise. Read all about that here!

The One Piece by Studio WIT was announced during Jump Festa 2024 where they released a new teaser trailer and key visual.

The new anime will adapt “from” the East Blue Saga, possibly hinting at covering more arcs.

However, this has not been confirmed yet. The remake has been announced to commemorate 25 years of the anime, following “ANYTIME ONEPIECE”, where the anime will play throughout the next year in Japan.
