Super Saiyan Blue Goku Floats Around New York City in the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The official Toei Animation Twitter handle and American anime fans flocked to the streets of New York City to capture a Super Saiyan Blue Goku balloon floating around the streets during the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade that took place on Nov 24, 2023.

Goku first appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2018 as a large helium character balloon, advertising the then-upcoming 2019 film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly and he’s been appearing in all parades ever since.

Many fans of the Dragon Ball franchise and pop culture voiced their joy and praised Goku as the first-ever anime character to appear in the Macy’s Parade when the balloon was first announced on Halloween.

This year in 2023, Goku appears in his Super Saiyan Blue form once again, but this time, to promote the upcoming 40th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball manga the following year.

But this year is special, as another anime character, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, make his debut in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. However, it did not go exactly well for the ballooned up pirate.
