That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Light Novel Might In 2025

On January 31, 2025, it was announced by Fuse, the original creator, that the light novel series, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, will be ending soon.

In the afterword of Volume 19, released on November 30, 2021, Fuse originally planned for the series to end in Volume 22, which was released on January 30, 2025 but has already announced the release of volume 23 and beyond to write additional plots at the behest of his editor.

By Volume 18, released on March 31, 2021, the series was heading into its final arc.

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” is a light novel series originally written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah from 2013 to 2016 as part of the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō and has since garnered over 400 million page views.

The series is currently under Micro Magazine, which published the first light novel volume in 2014 and has since released 22 volumes as of this year.

The series would later be adapted into a manga illustrated by Taiki Kawakami on March 26, 2015 under Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Sirius. As of 2024, the manga has reached 27 volumes.

Tensura is also the first manga series based on a light novel with at least 20 million total copies in print, with 40 million copies in circulation as of February 2023.

The manga would be adapted into an anime series handled by Studio 8bit and began airing on October 2, 2018 directed by Atsushi Nakayama as of Season 2.

The series currently has three seasons, each season reaching 24 episodes for a total of 72 episodes, as well as 5 OVAs (Original Video Animations) and two spin-offs, the 12-episode “The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” released in 2019, and the original net animation “Visions of Coleus” released in 2023.

A new film has been set for February 2026 in Japan.
