One Piece episode 1112, titled “Clash! Shanks vs. Eustass Kid” came out on July 14, 2024, and it sent the fandom into a frenzy! The animation staff went ballistic over the episode’s overall quality and the fluidity.

The production of the series has been ramping up quite lately since Director Nagamine’s work on episode 892.

The director of the episode was under the vision of Wataru Matsumi, a name that has since become acquainted with the One Piece series since 2021 by directing the “We Are One” shorts. Since then, she has directed episodes like 1051 and 1101, two other high-profile episodes.

Not to mention big names like Akihiro Ōta and Vincent Chansard. Just look at the scenes they’ve been in charge of and tell me why they shouldn’t be working more on One Piece!

Akihiro Ōta casually pulls off Megumi Ishitani level stuff, so much so that episode 1100 is among his strongest works since his return after Gegege no Kitaro. Episode 1112 provides us with his pure skills in effects work and background animation, all amplified by his Ohira-like style that is always PEAK to see.

A short summary of One Piece episode 1112

A few hours before killing Shaka, York secretly planned the Seraphim’s attack, instructing them to target everyone in the Labophase except herself, Vegapunk, and the Cipher Pol hostages. To avoid suspicion, she had S-Snake temporarily petrify her with Mero Mero no Mi, reversing it later in secret.

Meanwhile, the Red Hair Pirates confront the Kid Pirates at sea for their attack on Elbaf. Kid, eager to fight Shanks, faces an unexpected assault from Shanks’ subordinate crews. Shanks, unaware of this initial attack, orders his crews to retreat. However, Kid prepares a massive attack, Damned Punk, intending to wipe out Shanks’ fleet. Shanks, foreseeing Kid’s move, counters with a powerful Kamusari, striking down Kid and severely injuring Killer, who tried to protect his captain.

The explosion from Shanks’ attack damages Kid’s ship and knocks out several crew members. The defeated Kid Pirates surrender, offering their Road Poneglyph copies. Shanks disregards their pleas, and as he boards his ship, Dorry and Brogy sink the Victoria Punk with Hakoku. Kid falls into the sea, marking his defeat.

The fan reaction for Shanks vs Eustass Kid will make you watch the episode

The One Piece fandom couldn’t contain themselves after watching episode 1112, with one Twitter user saying this could be the best episode of the series ever after the famous episode 1015 masterpiece!

The visual spectacle, the impact frames, the seamless transitions from scene to scene, the camera angles, all of them received praise worthy of a One Piece episode.

Unfortunately for One Piece fans, they’ll have to wait for another week for episode 1113 to hit the streaming platforms.
